First came word the Ram was going to discontinue the EcoDiesel. Now we're hearing the same news from Jeep in regards to the Wrangler. Jeep says it will mark the end of of Wrangler EcoDiesel production with the exclusive limited-edition 2023 Wrangler Rubicon FarOut Edition. You won't have long to order one. It's available to order through November only and will begin arriving at CarPro Jeep dealers in the fourth quarter. (Note, Jeep will still offer the EcoDiesel optionally for the Gladiator.)

Wrangler EcoDiesel History

Jeep first introduced the EcoDiesel for the Wrangler 2020. With 442 lb.-ft. of torque it was the most capable Wrangler at the time. But since then, it's lost top billing to newer models (both of which Jerry the Car Pro has reviewed.)  In more recent years Jeep has introduced  the Wrangler Rubicon 392, featuring 470 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque, and the plug-in hybrid Wrangler Rubicon 4xe, delivering 375 horsepower, 470 lb.-ft of instant torque (along with 49 MPGe and 21 miles of all-electric range.)

“At Jeep, we are always listening to our customers and driven to improve on our legendary 4x4 capability,” said Jim Morrison, senior vice president and head of Jeep brand North America. “The Wrangler Rubicon FarOut special edition is our tip of the hat to the EcoDiesel technology on Wrangler."
