2026 Genesis GV80 Coupe 3.5T E-SC MHEV Prestige Review

This week I bring you the gorgeous inside-and-out 2026 Genesis GV80 Coupe. This marks my second review of this luxury coupe which debuted for the 2025 model year. And once again, there is so much to love. Looks, power, and technology, along with impeccable interior craftsmanship that rivals six-figure luxury SUVs.

Exterior

Based on the GV80, the Coupe's sweeping roofline lends itself to a sportier vibe than the SUV variant.  While a Prestige Black trim is new for 2026, this is the Prestige.

I am a huge fan of the gorgeous Bering Blue exterior hue, chrome profile trim and beautiful 22-inch sport alloy wheels also worn by the 2025 I reviewed.   A double-layered Crest Grille up front is flanked by MLA (Micro Lens Array)-powered LED headlamps.  Large intakes create airflow to the engine. Other exterior features include soft-power close doors and power-folding mirrors with Genesis logo puddle lamps.

In back, the Coupe's sporty style includes a visible quad muffler, unique descending rear spoiler and tail lamp design and a wide auxiliary brake light integrated into the tailgate.  Monobloc front brakes are treated to coupe-exclusive black calipers.

Powertrain

This GV80 Coupe 3.5T E-SC MHEV is a jumble of letters for what is basically a mild hybrid powertrain. A 3.5L Twin-Turbo V6 engine is paired with a 48V e-Supercharger. The result of the electric supercharger is a fantastic 409 horsepower and nearly matching 405 pound-feet of torque.  Both are needed since this is a heavy 5,000+ pound SUV.  For that reason I won't describe it as a performance SUV because it lacks quick off-the-line acceleration. But power is excellent and undoubtedly confident.

The powertrain is mated with an eight-speed automatic all-wheel drive which now features new-for-2026 Terrain mode with Snow, Mud, and Sand modes. That said, this is not a heavy-duty off-roader.

So what does all that mean?  E-SC MHEV

Interior

Show-stopping doesn't begin to describe the tailored interior.  Quilted Nappa Leather seats and a massive 27-inch OLED instrument cluster and navigation system greet you when you open the door. Detailed craftsmanship is evident everywhere you look as are quality materials like the carbon fiber trim, switchgear leatherette-wrapped upper instrument panel and a microfiber suede headliner.

An Ultramarine Navy Blue interior features contrasting orange seatbelts and stitching. The quilted leather front Ergo Motion driver's seat is extremely comfortable and features a cushion extender. Both front seats feature a massage function. A heated, leather steering wheel looks the part in both silver and glossy trim.  Coupe-exclusive alloy pedals minimize foot slippage.

A 27" OLED instrument cluster & navigation display with great resolution and graphics stretches across the dash. Genesis' multimedia system is compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.  You can operate voice command with a simple "Hey Genesis" The multimedia system is also where you find a Mood Curator with pre-set themes with customizable music and massage seat functions. Each even has its own scent. A Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with nice aluminum speakers is outstanding.

Climate features - including the heated and ventilated seats and the heated steering wheel- are operated largely through the haptic controls on the center stack.  However, there are a few knobs and buttons, too.

Carbon fiber trim on the center console sets off two gorgeous dials with jewel-like accents. One is for the shift-by-wire transmission, the other operates the infotainment system and the top is a writing trackpad.  Another cool feature is a rare heated front console armrest.

Thoughtful convenience features can be found throughout the cabin, including a power button on the passenger's seat that makes it easy for the driver or 2nd-row occupants to move the seat forward and back as needed.

2025-genesis-gv80-coupe-2nd-rowPower-operated second-row seats are also heated and ventilated. The coupe-like design along with stadium seating means you lose a little headroom. There is great window real estate back here with manual rear window shades. Backseat passengers also enjoy a nice armrest with small beverage holders and digital A/C controls.

The GV80 Coupe has a hands-free power liftgate and a large cargo area with 2nd-row power buttons and a cargo cover.

Standard features include a wireless charger, digital rearview mirror, 3-zone climate, four USB-C ports, aluminum door sills,  adjustable ambient lighting, a fingerprint authentication system and carpeted floor mats.

Safety

Genesis' driver assistance is just fantastic. It includes everything you'd imagine plus extras like Digital Rearview mirror, Blind-Spot View Monitor, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist.  It also has Safe Exit Assist, Advanced Rear Occupant Alert and a great color head-up color display.

To me Genesis has the most intuitive auto driving out there. You can enable Highway Driving Assist 2 with one push of a button, it is easy to find and doesn't take multiple steps to enact. Its Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 parking feature is also the best self-parking system I've experienced.

Ride and Drive

Make no mistake this is heavy vehicle - so you're not going to get a super sporty ride even though Sport and Sport + mode tightens up steering nicely.  If you like a heavy steering feel - you'll be quite happy. For most, Comfort mode will do the trick.

The ride and drive is so, so butter smooth when you are cruising on highway lending to an immensely comfortable experience. A lot of that is thanks to the GV80 Coupe's Electronically Controlled Suspension w/ Road Preview that adjusts to the road ahead.  Braking is excellent and the ride is super quiet unless you want to hear the great exhaust note in Sport + mode.

Visibility is wonderful out both the front and rear. Things to keep in mind: it has a wider turning radius and take a bit more effort to park due to its large size.

Options and What You'll Pay

My tester's only option is its Bering Blue paint ($650). Pricing has gone up roughly $2K over the similar GV80 Coupe I reviewed in 2025. This 2026 stickers for $89,795 as equipped.

Verdict

The 2026 GV80 Coupe is such an impressive large SUV.  Superbly designed inside and out, and with the power, luxury and technology to love, it's surprising it doesn't come with a six-figure price tag.
