2026 Buick Envista Sport Touring SUV Review

Written By: Jerry Reynolds | Oct 26, 2026, 1:38:37 PM

This week I am behind the wheel of the 2026 Buick Envista Sport Touring, a stylish little SUV that makes a strong case for keeping your car payment under control. Buick offers the Envista in Preferred, Sport Touring, and Avenir trims, and this one occupies the middle spot. For 2026, the new Studio Series package gives the Sport Touring a distinctive color combination and bundles together a long list of comfort and convenience features. My review vehicle has that package, and it certainly dresses the part.

EXTERIOR

The Envista has a low, sweeping roofline, a sharply angled rear window, and a profile that gives it more personality than many small crossovers. Up front, the narrow daytime running lights sit above the main headlights, with Buick’s tri-shield emblem centered on the nose.

The Sport Touring treatment adds a black mesh grille, black mirror caps, gloss-black body moldings, and black lower exterior trim. This one’s Ceramic paint is a creamy neutral shade that works beautifully with the black accents and optional 19-inch black-painted aluminum wheels. Around back, the slim taillights and integrated roof spoiler finish off the look. There is nothing dowdy about this Buick.

PERFORMANCE

Under the hood is a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine producing 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Every Envista has front-wheel drive; all-wheel drive is unavailable. The horsepower number sounds modest, but the turbocharged engine’s torque is what helps this little SUV get moving. This is also a flex-fuel vehicle that can use gasoline or E85, although the fuel-economy ratings below are for gasoline. An automatic stop/start system has a button to disable it. Even for me, the acceleration is acceptable.

INTERIOR

Open the door and the Studio Series treatment continues with Ebony leatherette seats and Whisper Beige stitching, including ST embroidery on the front head restraints. The contrast stitching carries across the cabin, and the dashboard has a clean, sweeping design. The heated driver’s seat has eight-way power adjustment and two-way power lumbar support, while the passenger seat adjusts manually. The heated, wrapped steering wheel has a flat bottom, and the power tilt-sliding moonroof has a manual shade.

An 8-inch digital driver information screen sits beside an 11-inch touchscreen, giving the dashboard a wide, modern appearance. The center screen handles audio, phone connections, the rear camera display, and vehicle settings. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto let you use your phone’s navigation apps, and the six-speaker audio system includes AM/FM, Bluetooth streaming, and a SiriusXM trial. There is no head-up display. Importantly, Buick retains physical climate controls below the center vents, along with buttons for the heated seats and steering wheel. Adjusting the temperature should not require a search party.

The center console holds a conventional gear selector, cupholders, and the wireless charging pad. There are USB-A and USB-C connections up front and two charge-only USB-C ports for rear passengers. The rear seat offers useful legroom, although the sloping roof deserves a personal headroom check if you regularly carry tall adults. The back of the console has charging ports but no face-level air-conditioning vents. Behind the rear seat is 20.7 cubic feet of covered cargo space, expanding to 42 cubic feet with the split rear seatbacks folded. This one also has a power liftgate and an actual compact spare under the cargo floor.

Its Convenience I package includes a heated steering wheel, Keyless Open, eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and two-way power driver lumbar adjustment. Convenience II adds a power liftgate, wireless charging, and Rainsense front wipers. Also included are a power tilt-sliding moonroof with manual sunshade; the Advanced Safety package with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-change alert with side blind-zone alert, and adaptive cruise control; 19-inch black-painted aluminum wheels; a dealer-installed sport pedal kit; and dealer-installed all-weather floor liners. Buick also specifies a Watts Link rear suspension system with the Envista Studio Series package.

• This review vehicle adds adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change alert with side blind-zone alert through its optional package.

RIDE AND DRIVE

The Envista’s appeal is its easygoing road manners, light steering, and a cabin that stays pleasantly quiet for a vehicle in this price range. The little turbo delivers useful acceleration for everyday driving and freeway merging, and the overall character favors comfort over aggressive cornering. Buick’s sound-cancellation system helps give it a more refined feel than the engine’s size might suggest. I would still like a transmission with more gears, but the conventional automatic is straightforward. Sport Touring gives you the sporty appearance, while the driving experience remains focused on being a comfortable daily companion.

VERDICT

The Envista gives shoppers a handsome exterior, a well-arranged cabin, and a useful equipment list without requiring a luxury-brand budget. The Studio Series package makes this particular Sport Touring especially appealing, bringing together features people can appreciate every day. Fuel economy is rated at 28 city, 32 highway, and 30 combined, and the total MSRP is $32,355 including transportation. If you want an attractive small SUV with plenty of amenities and do not need all-wheel drive or towing capability, this Buick deserves a place on your shopping list, especially when you consider with incentives, this one can likely be bought under $30,000. That’s a rare price point these days for a well-equipped SUV.
