If you want to be a member of an exclusive club, the 2025 Volvo V60 Cross Country is one way to do it. There aren't many of these midsize luxury wagons- or any wagon for that matter -on the road today. Even reviewing one is rare. The last time I can recall being behind the wheel of a Volvo wagon was in the larger 2021 Volvo V90. Both wagons are stretched variants of the their sedan counterparts the S60 and S90.
Exterior
If you've never equated a wagon with the word stunner - the V60 surely gives you permission to do so.
It's gorgeous in Bright Dusk with optional 21-inch 7-spoke Matte Graphite Diamond Cut wheels, worth the $3,200 extra. It also features a Cross Country mesh chrome grille, high-gloss black window trim, and Bright aluminum roof rails that are aerodynamically designed to help keep down road noise.
The Cross Country's wheel arches give it a rugged presence without diminishing its polish. Along with LED headlights, fog lights help light the way when needed.
Powertrain
The V6 Cross Country is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged 48 Volt mild hybrid system mated to a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard. The powertrain delivers 247 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Power is okay but would I love a few more ponies for its 4,004 curb weight? Sure. Sadly, however, Volvo has discontinued the 455-horsepower V60 Polestar Engineered plug-in hybrid in the U.S., so that's no longer a possibility. You could however step up to the larger, and slightly heavier V90 for 295-horses.
Interior
The V60's roomy interior may have been around awhile, but when it's this nice and inviting, who cares. The cabin's Amber hue is an always pleasing warm tan color that looks great with the real driftwood decor. The multi-textured tailored dashboard and doors are beautifully done. The Bowers and Wilkins speakers add to the cabin's luxury appeal.

Heated and ventilated perforated Nappa leather seats are well-designed and comfortable. The Ultra trim adds power side bolsters, a cushion extender and 4-way power lumbar.
The optionally heated leather-wrapped Charcoal steering wheel is impeccably tailored as well. A 12.3-inch driver display with bright graphics, easy to read info and navigation is also a highlight.

The tailored center console is a big focal point. As always I am bedazzled by Volvo's Orrefors solid crystal gear shifter that takes center stage. The switchgear throughout impresses with its quality.
A 9-inch touchscreen, flanked by vertical a/c vents on either side, runs Volvo's multimedia system which incorporates Apple CarPlay as well as Google Built-In and a 360 rearview camera. You'll control a lot of functions through the touchscreen, resulting in a minimalist interior since its sans of a lot of buttons and knobs. The tablet-style screen also operates the optional 15-speaker B&O sound system with excellent sound quality.

Second row passengers enjoy comfy and optionally heated seats thanks to a Climate Package. A slim rear center armrest features storage and built-in cup holders. Tinted rear windows make it private back there and help keep things cool by reducing UV radiation. Above, a wonderful panoramic sunroof incorporates a power sunshade.
Connectivity-wise, there are 4 USB-C ports in the cabin, split between the rows. But you'll have to live without a wireless charger.

Volvo is big into clean air in the cabin. Its advanced air purification system stops up to 95% of small, harmful air pollutants from entering the cabin. Using the app you can even pre-clean the cabin air.
Other features include four-zone-climate, textile floor mats, interior illumination, and aluminum front door tread plates.
Utility
As you'd imagine, a wagon offers great cargo space when you open the power-operated, programmable tailgate.

Integrated illumination lights are underneath the tailgate. This review vehicle is also equipped with an optional luggage cover.
Ride and Drive
The V60 is really enjoyable to drive. My driving mode of choice: Polestar Engineered. It gives you a sportier driving experience with enhanced gearshift response. (It's not to be confused with the discontinued Polestar Engineered model.)

Its Cross Country designation means you get a higher, softer suspension with 8.1 inches of ground clearance, along with Off Road mode and and Hill Descent Control for optimized traction, grip and safety.
The softer suspension delivers a smooth ride on the highway, and it's a quiet one, too. It's an overall balanced ride that's very comfortable.
Safety
Driver Assistance features include: Blind Spot Information System with Steer Assist and Cross Traffic Alert, Collision Avoidance featuring Low & High Speed Collision Mitigation and Detects Vehicle/Pedestrian/Cyclist/Large Animal, Oncoming Mitigation by Braking Driver Alert Control, Lane Keeping Aid, Forward Collision Warning, Post Impact Braking and Park Assist.

Volvo's Pilot Assist Driver Assistance System with Adaptive Cruise Control is one of my all-time favorites.
The Ultra is additionally equipped with a graphical Head-Up Display which adapts automatically to light conditions.
Options
Options include the 15-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system ($3,200), Climate Package with headlamp washers ($750), luggage cover ($390), and 20-inch 7 spoke wheels (3,200). This brings the MSRP to just over $64,000.
