2025 Range Rover SE Long Wheelbase Review

Written By: Jerry Reynolds | Apr 27, 2026 4:26:23 PM

The 2025 Range Rover SE Long Wheelbase 7-seat is exactly what you expect when you think of a full-size luxury SUV that doesn’t just transport people—it makes a statement doing it. My review vehicle came in Hakuba Silver with a stunning Perlino interior, a light, elegant combination that fits the personality of this SUV perfectly. Being the long wheelbase version, this Range Rover offers true three-row seating with a usable third row, not just one that looks good on a spec sheet.

Let’s get the name conundrum straight, it seems super confusing for many. The brand is Land Rover, and the model is Range Rover. To confuse things more, there are sub-models of Range Rover, like the Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, and Range Rover Evoque. Another Land Rover is the Discovery, and to round things out, there is the Defender, too. Luckily, there will not be a test.

Exterior

I’ve had many compliments on this Rover this week. The extra length of the LWB (long wheelbase) is noticeable at a glance, especially compared to the shorter Range Rover Sport you see more often. The black roof, black mirrors, and black accents along the bottom looks fantastic against the silver paint.

On the front door is the U-shaped side “blade”—and it’s purely cosmetic, giving the SUV a more upscale, modern look while visually breaking up the large side profile. It has become a signature Range Rover design cue.

A rear spoiler with the wiper tucked under looks great, and my review vehicle has optional 22” Diamond-Turned wheels with satin gray accents. Overall, this SUV just screams luxury.

Performance

Under the hood is a 3.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged inline-six cylinder engine producing 395-horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles.

2025-Range-Rover-SE-long-wheelbase-4X4-carpro-jpg

It features all-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer box, Terrain Response 2 with selectable driving and off-road modes, hill launch assist, and low traction launch. The electronic air suspension with adaptive dynamics does a remarkable job of keeping this large SUV composed and comfortable in all driving situations. It is a beast off the pavement and one of the most capable SUVs on the planet.

Interior

Inside, this is where Range Rover earns its reputation and one of the reasons I’ve owned so many of them through the years. The cabin is trimmed in Windsor leather with extended leather surfaces throughout, and everything you touch feels high-end. If you’ve been to the lobby of a Four Seasons Hotel, this is nicer.

Up front, both driver and passenger get power, heated, and ventilated seats with memory. The second row also features heated and ventilated seating, while the third row is heated, making this a true seven-passenger luxury vehicle.

The driver sits behind a crisp 13.7-inch Interactive Driver Display that replaces traditional gauges with a fully digital setup. It’s clean, modern, and easy to read at a glance, but more importantly, it’s highly configurable. Using the steering wheel controls, you can switch between different layouts, including a traditional dual-dial view or expanded screens that prioritize navigation, driver assistance information, media, or vehicle data. Everything is presented in sharp graphics and arranged logically so you’re not digging through menus while driving. It keeps the most important information directly in your line of sight, making it both functional and a nice touch of high-end tech that fits the overall feel of the Range Rover.

The center console in this Range Rover is one of the cleanest, most uncluttered designs you’ll find anywhere. Land Rover has done a great job of keeping buttons to a minimum, with most functions handled through the Pivi Pro screen, leaving a wide, elegant console that feels more like fine furniture than a traditional SUV control area. The gear selector is compact and modern, positioned perfectly within easy reach without dominating the space. One of the standout features is the front center console refrigerator compartment, part of the Comfort Pack, which is a terrific touch for keeping drinks cold on long drives—especially in a vehicle built for road trips. You’ve also got a wireless charging pad, well-placed cupholders, and smart storage throughout, all wrapped in high-quality materials that reinforce the upscale feel every time you reach for something.

As great as that clean, minimalist design looks, it does present what could be an issue for some people. Everything, and I mean everything, is operated through the center touchscreen or the steering wheel. There are no traditional volume or tuning knobs for the sound system, no manual A/C controls, and no physical buttons for things like the defroster or heated and ventilated seats. While the system itself is responsive and well-designed, it does mean you’ll need to take your eyes off the road more often than you would with conventional controls, at least until you get used to it. For tech-savvy buyers, it may feel modern and intuitive, but for others—especially those who prefer simple, tactile controls—it could be a bit frustrating. It’s a trade-off between sleek design and ease of use, and not everyone is going to come down on the same side of that equation.

2025-Range-Rover-SE-long-wheelbase-2nd-row-2carpro-jpg

Climbing into the back seat of this Range Rover, you immediately understand where a lot of the money went. The doors open wide, making it easy to step in, and once you’re settled, there’s an incredible amount of legroom thanks to the long wheelbase. The seats are heated and ventilated, and they’re just as comfortable as the fronts, wrapped in soft leather with a supportive, almost lounge-like feel. You’ve got your own climate controls, rear sunshades to block out the sun, and plenty of charging options to keep devices going on long trips. It’s quiet back there too—really quiet—so conversations are easy and road noise is almost nonexistent. Even with all three rows in use, it never feels cramped, which is something very few SUVs can honestly claim.

Getting into the third row of this Range Rover is refreshingly easy—and that’s not something I say often about three-row SUVs. The second-row seats slide forward with the push of a button, and the step-in height is helped by the standard electronic air suspension, which can lower the vehicle slightly. It’s still an SUV, so you’re not stepping into a minivan, but compared to most full-size luxury competitors, access is more graceful than gymnastic.

2025-Range-Rover-SE-long-wheelbase-third-row-carpro-jpg

Once you’re back there, the surprise continues. This is a legitimate third row, not an afterthought. Adults can sit back there without immediately negotiating for a trade after five minutes. Headroom is solid, legroom is usable—especially if the second row passengers are willing to share a little space—and the seating position is more natural than the knees-up posture you find in smaller SUVs.

Comfort-wise, Land Rover didn’t cut corners. The third row in this SE LWB is heated, which is a rare and appreciated touch, especially for families or colder climates. The materials carry through better than expected as well—you don’t feel like you’ve been sent to the “cheap seats.” Visibility is decent for a third row, and the overall cabin ambiance, including the lighting and quietness, still reaches all the way back. If you actually plan to use all seven seats on a regular basis, this is one of the few luxury SUVs where the third row isn’t just there to check a box—it’s genuinely functional and comfortable enough to use without complaints.

Utility

Moving to the cargo area you really start to appreciate how well thought out this SUV is. It’s not just about how much space you get, it’s how usable that space is in everyday life. Let’s start with capacity. With all three rows in place, you’ve got 8.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row. That’s enough for a couple of small suitcases or a grocery run, but like any three-row SUV, space is limited when you’ve got all seven seats occupied. Fold the third row down, and cargo space expands to 43.1 cubic feet, which is a big jump and makes this much more practical for trips, errands, or hauling larger items. With both the second and third rows folded flat, you’re looking at a maximum of 92.9 cubic feet of cargo space, which is excellent for a luxury SUV and gives you plenty of room for just about anything you’d realistically need to carry.

2025-Range-Rover-SE-long-wheelbase-cargo-carpro-jpg

What really sets this Range Rover apart, though, is the power split tailgate. The upper portion opens like a traditional liftgate, but the lower section folds down, and once you use it, you’ll wonder why more SUVs don’t offer it. That lower tailgate acts like a built-in bench or shelf. It’s perfect for sitting while loading, setting items down before sliding them into the cargo area, or even just taking a break. It also makes loading heavy items easier since you can rest them on the lower section instead of lifting everything straight up and over.

The cargo area itself is cleanly laid out and very functional. You get a flat load floor when the seats are folded, along with tie-down points, hooks, and good lighting. The power-folding seats make it easy to switch between passenger and cargo configurations, and the extra length from the long wheelbase really pays off here, giving you more usable space than you’d expect. Even with the third row in use, you’re not left completely without cargo room, which isn’t always the case in this segment. There’s enough space back there to remain practical, which is important if you actually plan to use all seven seats regularly.

Standard Equipment

Standard comfort and convenience features are extensive. You get premium LED headlights with signature daytime running lights, a sliding panoramic roof with power sunblind, soft-close doors, and a power split-tailgate. There are power rear side window sunblinds, rain-sensing wipers, privacy glass, and auto-dimming, heated, power-folding mirrors with memory and approach lights. The four-zone climate control system includes air quality sensing, and ambient interior lighting adds to the upscale feel.

2025-Range-Rover-SE-long-wheelbase-pano-sunroof-carpro-jpg

Technology is centered around the 13.1-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system that houses a Meridian sound system, Wi-Fi hotspot capability with a limited data trial, SiriusXM with a three-month subscription, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, and wireless device charging. Multiple USB ports and a domestic plug socket ensure everyone stays connected.

Safety

Safety features are comprehensive and include blind spot assist, 3D surround camera, adaptive cruise control with steering assist, driver condition response, lane keep assist, park assist, front and rear parking aids, rear traffic monitor, and traffic sign recognition with an adaptive speed limiter. Standard airbags, stability control, emergency braking systems, and a perimeter alarm round out the package.

Options

My review vehicle has $9,345 in options, and it’s very well equipped. The 22-inch Style wheels are $2,300 and a standout upgrade and give the SUV a more commanding presence. The Towing Pack, which includes advanced tow assist and a tow hitch receiver, is priced at $1,200. The Comfort Pack, at $1,080, adds twin-blade sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, a front center console refrigerator compartment, and Cabin Air Purification Pro. The Shadow Exterior Pack is $1,000 and the black contrast roof also comes in at $1,000. A Premium Interior Protection and Storage Pack is $740, while Natural Ecru Walnut veneer adds $650. Pixel LED headlights with signature daytime running lights are $550, and the Cold Climate Pack, which includes a heated windshield and heated washer jets, is $400. Additional smaller items include the Emergency Pack and other minor features, rounding out the option list. Base MSRP is $117,200, and with options and the destination charge of $2,150, the total suggested retail price comes to $128,695.

Ride and Drive

Behind the wheel, this Range Rover is all about composure and effortlessness. The 3.0-liter turbocharged and supercharged inline-six delivers smooth, linear power that moves this large SUV with ease, and it will tow 7,700 pounds. Acceleration is confident and refined, perfectly suited to its luxury mission rather than outright performance like the V8 Supercharged ones I owned. The ride quality is exceptional, thanks to the electronic air suspension, which soaks up bumps and rough pavement to the point you almost forget how big it is. Steering is light but precise, and despite its size, it feels manageable around town while remaining extremely stable at highway speeds. Visibility is excellent from the high seating position, giving you a commanding view of the road ahead. What really stands out is the quietness inside the cabin—wind and road noise are minimal, making it feel more like a rolling luxury lounge than a traditional SUV. It’s not designed to be sporty, it’s designed to be serene, and it delivers exactly that.

Verdict

In summary, this Range Rover focuses on delivering effortless luxury, space, and capability without needing to shout about it. It’s exceptionally comfortable, loaded with thoughtful features, and one of the few SUVs where all three rows are genuinely usable. Fuel economy isn’t bad for a 5,600 pound SUV at 19 city and 24 highway. And for the record, I actually think it’s well-priced at $128,000 considering what else is out there. If you’re looking for a full-size luxury SUV that prioritizes refinement and real-world usability, this one delivers in a big way.
