There are still not many choices in the truly large luxury SUV segment, but today I bring you one of my favorites: the 2025 Lincoln Navigator L Black Label 4x4. The L designation means it’s the long-wheelbase version, stretching nearly a foot beyond the standard model and adding considerable cargo space behind the roomy third-row seat.

For 2025, the Lincoln Navigator carries forward its commanding presence and luxurious feel but gains several key updates to keep it fresh in the ultra-luxury SUV class. The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 remains, still making 440 horsepower, but Lincoln has refined its 10-speed automatic transmission for smoother, quieter operation. The BlueCruise hands-free driving system now runs the latest 1.4 version, offering improved lane centering and automatic lane change assist.

Inside, the 2025 Lincoln Navigator features a much more dramatic display setup. The dashboard is dominated by a 48-inch panoramic display that spans nearly the full width of the cabin, integrating both the driver’s instrumentation and the central infotainment area. Below that, there is a dedicated 11.1-inch touchscreen for controls (climate, settings, etc.). Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain standard, and new interior color combinations have been added for the Black Label themes. There is also the new square steering wheel with controls. Minor exterior tweaks include a revised grille pattern and new wheel designs, while additional active safety tech and enhanced over-the-air update capability round out the 2025 improvements.
Powertrain
Lift the big aluminum hood and you’ll find the familiar 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 EcoBoost engine. It continues to deliver a stout 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque, paired to a refined 10-speed automatic transmission. Power delivery feels smoother for 2025 thanks to the aforementioned updated transmission mapping and improved throttle calibration. My test vehicle is a four-wheel drive, though two-wheel drive remains available for those who don’t need the traction or live in milder climates.
Exterior
The exterior is big and bold, and you can’t miss the Lincoln grill with a lit Lincoln emblem in the middle and LED lights that run all across the grill. For me, I haven’t decided if I like the Crystal White Metallic color.
I think I would prefer a pure white or a pearl white, but it may grow on me. I am also a “bigger is better” kind of guy when it comes to wheels, and this has 24-inch ones. That part I love, but the design on the wheels do not do it for me. The Navigator is surprisingly devoid of chrome, unlike the very blingy Escalade.

There is a nice-sized spoiler in the back and the wiper is neatly tucked underneath it. LED headlight and taillights adorn the big SUV, and power running boards pop out when you unlock the doors or get close to the SUV.
Interior
As striking as the exterior is, it’s what happens when you open the door that defines the Navigator. The 2025 interior has been subtly refreshed, with new color themes and upgraded materials, especially in Black Label trims like the one I am reviewing. The quilted leather, open-pore wood, and satin aluminum accents remain stunning.

Inside, the Navigator delivers one of the most visually striking interiors in the luxury SUV world, thanks to that new, sweeping 48-inch panoramic display that runs the entire width of the dashboard, except for speakers on each end. This ultra-wide screen merges the digital instrument cluster and infotainment functions into one continuous display, creating a seamless, futuristic cockpit. The left portion presents key driving information like speed and navigation prompts, while the center and right segments handle multimedia, comfort, and connectivity features.

When the vehicle is parked, the screen can transform into a “Pano Mode,” allowing for streaming video or gaming content. The display sits high and is slightly curved, keeping essential data within easy view to reduce distraction, while enhancing the feeling of immersion. Beneath it, a secondary 11.1-inch touchscreen provides quick access to frequently used functions such as climate control and app selection. Together, these displays give the Navigator’s cabin a command-center feel—luxurious, high-tech, and dramatically more engaging than before—signaling Lincoln’s next step toward a more digital and connected driving experience.

Then there are the Perfect Position seats, a hallmark of this SUV. They still adjust 28 different ways and include independent thigh extenders. Both front seats feature heating, ventilation, and massage functions. For 2025, the massage patterns have been revised for a smoother feel.
As expected, standard equipment on the Navigator L is comprehensive: hands-free power split liftgate, massaging, heated and ventilated front seats, second-row heated and cooled massaging captain’s chairs, third-row power-reclining and power-folding seats, panoramic sunroof with power shade, power-adjustable pedals, remote start, and power-deployable running boards.

Other highlights include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, blind-spot and cross-traffic alerts, auto hold, forward and reverse sensing, a heated steering wheel, a disable button for the stop/start system, and a trailer tow package with Pro Trailer Backup Assist.
Lincoln’s hands-free system, now branded BlueCruise 1.4, has also been enhanced. It enables true hands-free driving on more than 160,000 miles of prequalified divided highways across North America, with smoother lane changes and better steering confidence than before.

Yes, the Navigator L is big, with seating for seven. The second-row console continues to impress with its touchscreen for media and climate control. The dual 10.1-inch rear screens now feature updated Amazon Fire TV integration with faster response times, Alexa voice remotes, and built-in streaming apps. Rear passengers can play games, stream content, or mirror devices easily thanks to new HDMI and Bluetooth updates. There are additional power ports and USB-C ports for charging your electronics.

Perhaps where the Navigator continues to outshine rivals is the third row, which remains truly adult-friendly. Even passengers over six feet tall enjoy good headroom and legroom, aided by the long L wheelbase and flat load floor. Far back passengers also get individual air vents with separate fan-speed controls, USB-C charging ports, and their own cupholders and storage cubbies built into the side panels.

The second row captain chairs slide forward and fold for ease to the third row and it is done with the push of a button.
Utility
Cargo area is massive. The Navigator L offers 36.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, 75.4 cubic feet with the third row folded, and a maximum of 121.6 cubic feet with all rear seats down.
In addition to raw volume, the 2025 Navigator includes a Tiered Cargo Area Management System (convertible between a tailgate seat backrest, a cargo shelf, or a table with 35-lb capacity) to help organize and adapt the cargo space.
Special Features
Rejuvinate
Some neat features I need to point out include the Rejuvinate feature, a built-in wellness experience designed to help occupants relax and recharge while the vehicle is parked. When activated, it combines ambient lighting, seat massaging, climate adjustments, and calming visuals on the panoramic display—along with a specially composed soundtrack—to create a short, guided relaxation session. The system can adjust the seat recline and bolster pressure, modulate the cabin temperature, and synchronize the lighting and visuals to match the rhythm of the program. It’s meant to provide a few minutes of calm between meetings or while waiting in the car, effectively turning the Navigator’s cabin into a personal spa or lounge on wheels.
Lincoln’s Embrace
Then there is Lincoln’s Embrace, which is the brand’s signature welcoming sequence that activates as you approach or start the vehicle, designed to make entry and exit feel more personal and ceremonial. When the key fob or Phone as a Key is detected nearby, the Navigator “comes to life” — power-deployable running boards lower, a soft LED Lincoln logo welcome mat projects onto the ground, and the exterior lights perform a graceful illumination sequence. Inside, ambient lighting glows to match the theme, seat and steering wheel positions adjust to the driver’s profile, and the screens awaken with a tailored greeting. The goal of Embrace is to give each drive a sense of occasion, reinforcing Lincoln’s focus on quiet luxury and emotional connection between driver and vehicle.
Split Gate
I also really like Lincoln’s Split Gate that pairs an upper power liftgate with a lower fold-down power tailgate, so you can pop the hatch for quick grabs or drop the lower panel to create a waist-high loading surface, a design that also helps keep items from tumbling out when you open it. You can operate the gate from the key fob and interior/exterior buttons.
Ride and Drive
The Navigator drives as luxuriously as ever, with adaptive suspension that continually adjusts damping in milliseconds. It glides over rough pavement, remains stable on the highway, and isolates noise. As you would expect, the Navigator is whisper quiet inside, free from road noise or any sound from the big tires. It is kind of neat, too, the way the smaller, square steering wheel makes the Nav feel more nimble and easier to park. The downside is the controls on the steering wheel. There are only two buttons, and they control a lot of different things, including radio volume, tilt steering wheel, adjustable pedals, the exterior mirrors, etc. Operating the buttons are cumbersome and exasperating. Luckily, there is a huge control knob for radio volume on the center console.
MPG and What You'll Pay
EPA estimates for 2025 are 17 city, 22 highway, and 17 combined for the four-wheel-drive L version. Pricing starts at $114,980, and this fully equipped Black Label tester comes in at $125,230 including the $750 charge for the paint, and the 801A equipment group, which is the 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D audio system, panoramic Vista roof with power shade, adaptive suspension with auto-leveling, 360-degree camera system with parking sensors, the Lincoln Digital Experience with connected navigation, Phone as a Key with wireless charging and ambient lighting, power-deployable running boards, the power split-gate tailgate, and the full suite of Co-Pilot360 Driver Assist features including blind spot and automatic emergency braking.
The Black Label trim continues to bring premium ownership perks—four years or 50,000 miles of complimentary maintenance, pickup and delivery for service, anytime car washes at participating dealers, and exclusive Black Label dining and travel partner privileges.
Verdict
The 2025 Lincoln Navigator L remains a statement of American luxury: big, bold, powerful, and effortless. Despite its size, it’s easy to drive, beautifully engineered, and amazingly quiet inside. If you need a full-size luxury SUV that can carry your family, your gear, this one still belongs at the top of your shopping list. If you want to be noticed, check out the Escalade from Cadillac. If you are shooting for elegance and opulence, the Navigator is the way to go.
