2025 Jeep Wagoneer S Limited 4xe Review

Written By: Jerry Reynolds | Oct 6, 2025 12:33:54 PM

This week, I am looking at a new addition to the Jeep lineup, the 2025 Wagoneer S 4xE all-electric two-row SUV. While I’ve reviewed a couple of Jeep plug-in hybrids, this is the first all-electric to come from the storied Jeep brand.  Unfortunately, they may have missed the EV craze since as I write this, the Federal Tax rebates just ended.  Still, Jeep has made looking for an electric SUV just a little bit harder.  Not to be confused with the really large Wagoneer from Jeep, this is the smaller Wagoneer S.

Exterior

This is a really good-looking SUV in Bright White with a black roof, and I really like the 20” aluminum wheels. One interesting thing about this Jeep is that it has the usual roof that slopes down at the rear, but a massive rear spoiler makes it look like your typical square Jeep.

The spoiler has a wide opening for air flow.  It is really cool.  There is a Wagoneer S emblem up high toward the rear, and at night, you can see a light bar that runs completely across the grill, just under the hood.  This SUV is a true head-turner.

Powertrain

This is a dual-motor setup with one permanent-magnet motor at the front axle and one at the rear, giving it standard all-wheel drive. For efficiency, the front motor can decouple when cruising or under light loads, reducing drag and extending range. Together the motors produce around 500-horses and 524 lb-ft with the ability to upgrade output through an over-the-air update. Jeep pairs the motors with a single-speed automatic direct-drive gearbox, as is typical in EVs. Energy comes from a lithium-ion battery pack of just over 100 kWh usable capacity, which feeds an 800-volt electrical architecture. That setup enables both fast charging, and the ability to run higher-load systems efficiently. Range is estimated just under 300 miles on this model.

The dual-motor layout is integrated with Jeep’s Selec-Terrain traction management system. With instant torque and AWD traction, Jeep says the Wagoneer S can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in about 3.4 seconds, making it the quickest Jeep ever. Regenerative braking is standard and adjustable, including a one-pedal driving mode, which I love. In summary, the Wagoneer S’s powertrain is designed to blend luxury-SUV refinement with Jeep’s off-road-capability while delivering EV performance.

Interior

The interior is actually quite nice and laid out neatly and cleanly, but not stark and odd like many of the EVs I have reviewed.  The seats are very comfortable, with premium leather, the seats are power on both sides, and the seats are slightly bolstered.  They are also heated, but not air conditioned, and both seats have power lumbar supports.  The driver can set the memory seat for one or two people.

As you get comfy in the driver’s seat and hit the start button, you’ll see a colorful and fully digital 12.3-inch gauge cluster that can be configured to show a variety of layouts, including navigation, drive modes, EV power usage, and traditional speed and tach displays, all in crisp high-resolution graphics.

Center dash is a 12.3-inch Uconnect5 touchscreen that serves as the command center for navigation, audio, seat functions, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and vehicle settings. It also controls charging schedules and offers over-the-air update capability to keep the system current.  All the apps are there along with the Bluetooth and voice recognition system.  Thankfully, there are gold ‘ol knobs for radio volume and tuning.

Just under the fixed touchscreen is a static bar for camera views, to turn on the lane keep assist, the self-parking system, and you can turn off the front and rear parking sensors so they don’t drive you nuts in a car wash.

Just under that is another screen for climate control that you can turn off or fold up to create hidden storage.  If you do either, the climate controls can still be operated from the larger screen above, but the smaller screen gives you all climate without having to go through any menus.  So, this will make everybody happy!  If you think there are too many screens, get rid of the lower one.  If you don’t want to hunt for climate controls, leave the lower one on.  Smart idea!

On the center console itself, you’ll find a couple of USB-Cs and a power port.  This is also where you find the rotary dial transmission shifter and the drive modes which include: Sand, Snow, Eco, Auto, and Sport. There are also buttons for Auto Hold and hill descent control.

Moving to the backseat, there was way more leg and head room they I thought there would be.  Rear occupants get USB-C ports and a 110-volt power outlet for charging your gadgets.  There are air conditioning vents, and a center console that folds down.  The only issue is there are no cupholders except in the fold down armrest, meaning if there are three people in the backseat, nobody has cupholders.  Somebody should have thought of this.

Utility

Cargo area was another pleasant surprise. Without a third-row seat it is massive and there is a power liftgate that operates handsfree or with the key fob.

There is more storage underneath, and both the rear seats fold down super flat.  With the second row of seats upright, the 2025 Wagoneer S Limited 4xe offers about 30-cubic feet of cargo space, enough for luggage or groceries. Folding the seats flat opens the area to roughly 70 cubic feet, creating a wide, flat load floor that can easily handle bulkier items.  One brilliant thing on Jeeps I love, they put the power liftgate button down low, so you don’t have to reach high to close the rear tailgate from the cargo area.

Under the hood in the frunk area, you get about 4 cubic feet of sealed storage, ideal for smaller items like charging cables, backpacks, or valuables you want kept out of sight.

Standard Equipment and Safety

This SUV is loaded, standard features include the 20-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, LED lighting, a panoramic sunroof with power cover, hands-free power liftgate, heated leather seats, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, four-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, a 19-speaker Alpine audio system, remote start, the 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and the 12.3-inch Uconnect5 touchscreen with navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.  My test vehicle had no options.

Standard safety features include adaptive cruise control with stop and go, active lane management, blind-spot and cross-path detection, forward collision warning with active braking, pedestrian and cyclist emergency braking, parking assist with surround-view camera, driver attention monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and rear seat reminder.

Ride and Drive

This EV is incredibly fast when you want it to be, but in normal driving, it is quiet, smooth, and very composed.  I didn’t test it, but it is a Jeep, so you know it is also quite capable off the pavement. All-in-all as a daily driver, this is a real joy and a real contender for those wanting to make the move to an all-electric lifestyle.

Charging

Let’s talk charging times because they are actually quite good. Using a standard household 110-volt outlet (Level 1), you can expect a very slow charge that adds only a few miles of range per hour, making it best suited for overnight top-offs.

A 240-volt home or public Level 2 charger like the one I have at home cuts that time dramatically, fully replenishing the battery in about 10 hours. For the quickest turnaround, a DC fast charger (Level 3) can take the Wagoneer S from 20 percent to 80 percent in roughly 23 minutes, ideal for road trips or quick stops.

What You'll Pay

Fuel economy ratings from the EPA is 100-MPGe city, 85-MPGe highway, and 93-MPGe combined, good mileage numbers considering this is a fairly large SUV.  MSRP as equipped is $67,195 but remember, no $7,500 rebate from the government.  You can bet, however, that there will be hefty factory incentives to help move these.
