2025 Audi Q4 55 e-tron Prestige Review

Written By: Amy Plemons | Apr 24, 2025 11:11:17 PM

This week I bring you the 2025 Audi Q4 55 e-tron, an all-electric SUV built on Volkswagen Group's electric MEB platform. I note this because the next-generation Q4 e-tron due out soon will ride on a new, next-generation EV platform co-developed by Audi and Porsche.  It just debuted with the all-new 2025 Audi Q6 e-tron that I recently reviewed.

The Q4 e-tron received important power, range and charging updates during a 2024 mid-year model refresh.  For 2025, Audi makes the Technology package standard across the lineup and offers two new available packages, both of which are on my review model.

Exterior

Audi designers nailed it when they designed the original Q4 e-tron in 2022. Its looks hold up immensely well even in 2025.

It's a beauty. Navarra Blue Metallic is a gorgeous hue - especially paired with the newly available 21" inch 5-spoke wheels in a platinum gray finish.

The Prestige package includes LED matrix headlights, customizable head and tail light animation and exterior mirror projector lights. Aluminum roof rails sit on top.

Performance

Last year's mid-cycle updates boosted horsepower for the Q4 e-tron lineup and changed some badging.

The 50 e-tron became the 55 e-tron.  With it came a significant 40 horsepower boost to 335 ponies.  Powered by a 87 kWh battery and dual-motors, Audi cites a 0 to 60 time of 5 seconds.

Shift paddles on the steering wheel control three level regenerative braking, or you can set it to automatic in the multimedia system.

Interior

The Q4 e-tron's black interior nearly mirrors the Q4 e-tron Sportback I reviewed in 2022, since there's been no redesign since launch.

It's upscale in a minimalistic way, but not overly plush.  it feels spacious up front thanks to the soft-touch dash that's pushed forward and the semi-floating center console design. There is a bit more plastic than I'd like to see overall, especially on the door panels.

The newly available Sport Package definitely takes things up a notch, however, with S-badged leather front sport seats, aluminum front door sill inlays with an illuminated S logo, stainless steel pedal caps, a black headliner, high-tech mesh anthracite interior inlays, and a top-and-bottom flattened perforated leather steering wheel. Heating elements on the steering wheel and front seats are fantastic.

Audi's digital cockpit pro always impresses, though it is starting to feel small in today's market.  A high-quality 11.6-inch touchscreen with great graphics is ergonomically angled to the driver.  The screen is quick and responsive and Audi's navigation system always shines. The Prestige package's Sonos audio system delivers great sound quality. Voice command is responsive but could be more natural sounding.

Climate control buttons sit beneath the multimedia screen in the center stack.  Below, a two-tiered floating console gives the front row an open vibe. The upper console is encased in glossy black.  It hosts the shift-by-wire gear shift and stereo volume controller.  There are USB ports beneath it and an available wireless charger.  Cupholders are placed between front seats on a lower section near the fairly small center console bin armrest.

You won't find a ton of headroom in the second row due to stadium seating, but leg-room is ok. There is a mix of soft touch and plastic back here, but overall it feels like it could use a little more attention and a mix of materials to add more interest. The 60/40 split second row seat has a pass through to a nice cargo area with under storage.

Standard features also include a panoramic roof, power tailgate, and three-zone climate control.

Ride and Drive

The Q4 e-tron's driving dynamics are a highlight. Notably, the lineup also received new suspension and steering tuning during its mid-model refresh last year. This  model is also equipped with optional lowered Sport suspension.

German engineering lends itself to excellent handling as you expect, with a sportier, responsive steering feel.  The Q4 e-tron just feels great on the road - city or highway. It's a comfortable and quiet ride, too.

While its 335 ponies deliver great acceleration, the Q4 e-tron Quattro is not as quick on its feet as some other all-electric SUVs out there.

Range and Charging

The Q4 e-tron 55 will take you up to 258 (up 22) miles on a single charge.  Along with increasing range mid-2024,  Audi also boosted charging times and cites a 10-80 percent charging time in 28 minutes using DC Fast Charging. It's 9 hours using a Level 2 charger.

A charge port green light denotes when the charging is underway, and charging info also appears in the digital cockpit.

Standard Equipment

Of note for 2025, all Q4 e-tron trims are treated to the previously optional Technology package as standard.  It includes Audi virtual cockpit plus, Audi MMI Navigation plus, Traffic sign recognition, and Audi connect.

Safety

Audi's offers great driver assistance features but I'd prefer to initiate their operation from the steering wheel as opposed to a stalk on the steering wheel column. Standard safety includes Lane Departure Warning, Audi Side Assist, Audi Pre Sense Basic and Front, Rear Cross Traffic Warning, Front and Rear Parking Sensors and Child Safety locks.

The Prestige adds a motion sensor alarm system and augmented reality head-up display.

What You'll Pay

With the Prestige Package ($6,600), Sport Package ($1,800) and a new Cold weather package ($1,000) with a heated windshield and heat pump, the total MSRP rings in at $66,490 including destination.

Verdict

You'll definitely enjoy being behind the wheel of the 2025 Audi Q4 e-tron if you like an excellent engineered SUV with fantastic driving dynamics and a very comfortable ride. But there are a few things to keep in mind.  While range and charging recently improved, I expect both to get even better with the upcoming next-gen model. Also, for the money, the all-new Q6 e-tron, which already sits on the new EV platform, is just $10K more as tested recently. So I would in this instance have to make the case for the new Q6 e-tron.
