2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR Review

This week we take a look at a beautiful and very fast SUV, the 2019 Jaguar F-Pace SVR. This speedster takes you from 0-to-60 in just 4 seconds and will top out at 176 miles per hour.

Powertrain

All that power sits under a vented hood that covers a supercharged 5-liter V8 putting out 550-horses and 502-pound feet of torque. It has an 8-speed automatic that you can shift from steering wheel paddles and my tester is all-wheel drive.

Exterior

The 5-passenger F-Pace was introduced in the U.S. in 2016, with the SVR following in 2017. The SVR has unique features like the air vents under the front bumper that feed air to the big engine, and it has vents in both front fenders as well. Visibly this is a great looking SUV with 22” wheels and meaty tires, quad exhaust in the rear, and a large spoiler above the rear glass.

Interior

Jags are known for amazing interiors and the heavily-bolstered quilted leather SVR seats are very comfortable. I love the interactive gauge cluster that allows you to change what you see between the speedometer and tachometer. The colors change depending on which drive mode you choose. You can look straight ahead to see a colorful head-up display.

Carbon fiber adorns the door panels and flows into the dash and seats that are heavily stitched. All materials are soft to the touch.

The gauges are controlled from the SVR steering wheel along with audio controls, adaptive cruise control, and you can activate your cell with Bluetooth and use the F-Pace voice activation system.

The center console gear shifter is surrounded by carbon fiber. Below that is the start/stop kill button, and beside that is where you change the drive modes. Choose my favorite, which is Dynamic, or you can choose Comfort, ECO, or ADSR, which is Adaptive Surface Response for bad weather.

To the left of the cup holders is the button to turn on the wonderful exhaust notes, and you can set the speed limiter, which I can tell you I’d never, ever, use. There is a comfortable armrest there, also that houses a compartment to store things. Inside are two USB ports.

Center dash is a 10” color touchscreen that handles the navigation system, all the audio selections, your Bluetooth, rearview camera, settings, and climate.

All the systems in this vehicle are easy to operate and understand, but the system moves a little slower than I would prefer. There is a slight hesitation when changing screens.

Utility

The interior is roomy for five adults. Back seat legroom is good, as is headroom. Rear seat passengers have their own air vents, power outlets, a fold-down armrest, and the rear seat is heated.

There is 33.5 cubic-feet of cargo area in the back, and it even has a full-sized spare. There are levers in the cargo area to fold down the second row seats easily. The rear seat folds down flat.

Standard Equipment and Options

The F-Pace SVR comes extremely well-equipped. Most notable standard features are power lift gate, a power panoramic moonroof, keyless entry, rear camera, lane departure warning, heated and cooled front seats, and upgraded brakes with huge rotors and red calipers.

Options on this one include the Driver Assist package, which is blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with steering assist, high-speed emergency braking, park assist, and rear traffic monitor. Other options include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 22” wheels, an 825-watt Meridian sound system, and an activity band that allows you to lock the keys in your car and the band will unlock the vehicle, and it’s waterproof.

Ride and Drive

Although this speedster would be amazing on a track, it’s an incredibly capable vehicle off-road, although you’d want to watch the ground clearance.

Acceleration is very strong and again, the exhaust sound is incredible. Handling is superb, it is very quiet inside, steering is responsive, and the big brakes will stop you on a dime.

Fuel Economy and What You’ll Pay

Fuel economy is 16 in town, 21 on the highway but I’m not getting anywhere close to either one. It could be the way I am driving it.

This beast will set you back $90,200 as equipped, which is a lot of money, but if you look around, you’ll find that is not a bad price at all for what you get.

Verdict

The Jaguar F-Pace SVR is a great family SUV, OR when you want an adrenaline rush, just switch to Dynamic mode and bury the gas pedal.
