NHTSA Issues Consumer Alert: 2020-21 GMC Savana/Chevrolet Express Recall for Fire Risk

Another NHTSA consumer alert this week, this one involving owners of certain 2020 and 2021 GM Savana and Chevrolet Express vehicles that are being recalled due to fire risk.

Owners of select GM and Chevrolet vehicles listed below should park their vehicles outside and away from homes, structures, and other flammable materials such as vegetation, until their vehicles have been repaired, due to a new recall for the risk of fire.

Positive Battery Cable Short Circuit

GM issued a safety recall (NHTSA ID 21V-189) today for certain Model Year 2020 and 2021 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana vehicles with 6.6L gas engines. If a short circuit does occur, drivers may get a low battery voltage warning, the battery may die, or a fire may occur in the engine compartment.

Until these recalled vehicles have been repaired, the safest place to park them is outside and away from homes and other structures.
