My Newest Song: Still Worth Fighting For & The Other Five, Too!

Written By: Jerry Reynolds | Mar 23, 2026 9:15:51 PM

I have been humbled by the outpouring from people about my songs. People ask me what’s next? I have no idea. It is hard to explain, but it just hits me. It could be a news story, something I’ve read, or a conversation with someone. It’s funny, I know it when it happens, like being knocked upside the head. There are now six of them, and for those new to the Car Pro Radio Show or Car Pro Show newsletter, you may have missed one, so you will find them all here.  Remember, these are my gift to you, and you can share them with whomever you wish, but hopefully someone who appreciates them. You see, to me, sometimes people hear music clearer than the spoken word. On each song page, the lyrics are there as well if you want follow along with the song. Here are all six, from the newest to the oldest.

#6-Still Worth Fighting For: This was influenced by the public hanging of an athlete in Iran last week. Driving in the car, I realized too many people didn’t appreciate America. We are too quick to criticize without ever looking at the blessings. There are parts of this one praising our military and our first responders, something else we don’t do enough of.

#5-Stand With The Brave: This one popped into my head when I heard the news that six of our military were killed in the line of duty in Iran. It hit me hard, because these heroes volunteered for protect their country and we are too fast to forget that. As I wrote in the lyrics: “Freedom isn’t free, we all know the cost. It’s written in the names of the ones we’ve lost.”

Stand With The Brave ➡️

#4-Gold Beneath The Glory: This was prompted by our U.S. Olympic Hockey teams taking the Gold medal in both the women’s and the men’s competition. You could feel the American pride in their actions when they secured the medals. They represented the best we have to offer, and their American pride was incredibly on display, something I hoped would become contagious.

#3-Mr. Owner, Where’s The Wins?: This was aimed directly at the ownership of the Dallas Cowboys. Every year it is the same old thing-“next year is the year we go to the Super Bowl!” It’s been 30 freakin’ years since the Cowboys even went to an NFC Championship. I’d had enough of the empty promises. As a business, the Cowboys are the most successful in all of sports, but as a football team, they fail. Big time.

Mr. Owner, Where’s The Wins? ➡️

#2-Same GMC, Same Puppy: It was November and the car Christmas commercials were starting to invade my television. Then I saw the GMC commercial. Man and woman, it’s snowing to beat the band, he whistles and running over the hill is an adorable puppy. She whistles and over the hill comes a new black GMC truck. I thought to myself “how long have they been running the same commercial?” So, I looked. FIVE STRAIGHT YEARS. Why had that puppy not grown? He should have gray in his beard by now. Yes, my mind works in mysterious ways, but of all six songs, this one is the most listened to so far.

#1-A Car Pro Christmas Song: Again, it was in November and I got to thinking about all the Christmas themes car companies used. Like Lexus December to Remember, Toyotathon, Subaru’s Share the Love, and the list went on enough to make a parody of the 12 Days of Christmas. It’s pretty clear I’ve gotten better since this first attempt, but hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?
