Mecum Houston Is Next Week & TV Schedule!

Mecum Houston 2024 kicks off next Thursday!  An estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, exotics, Hot Rods, customs and more are expected to cross the block during the three-day auction event. It kicks off at Houston's NRG Center Thursday, April 4th and runs through Saturday, April 6th.  You can also watch the action live on TV Friday and Saturday on MotorTrend X MAX. Here's a look at some of Mecum Auctions highlighted offerings:

Plendl Brothers Bowtie Classics

The Plendl Brothers Bowtie Classics Collection is made up exclusively of Chevrolet-built sedans, trucks, SUVs and El Caminos,  all dressed in deep shades of black and all offered at no reserve. Highlights include an 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 with its original black exterior and original gray cloth interior. There are just 275 miles on its odometer. Under the hood, you find a 5.0L HO V-8 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission. Another collection highlight is a 2000 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible with 578 miles. It has a 5.7L/345 HP V-8 engine under the hood. Other low-mileage offerings include a 1985 Chevrolet C10 Pickup that was in its original owner’s care until 2004. It only has 148 miles on the odometer. A 1987 Chevrolet El Camino has 85 miles on its odometer and boasts a highly original condition with the original spark plugs (included in the sale) the only items replaced. 

 

Bob Cather Classics Collection

The Bob Cather Classics Collection of eight lots will be offered at no reserve. The collection includes a 1933 Packard Eight Coupe Roadster that is one of 1,800 Packard Model 1001 examples produced, and a 1983 Duesenberg II Royalton Dual Cowl Phaeton that is one of 71 produced from 1977 to 2011.  A trio of Lincolns will also cross the block:  a 1942 Lincoln Continental Coupe that is one of 200 Lincoln Continental Coupes produced for the 1942 model year, a 1962 Lincoln Continental Convertible with a maroon exterior over a tan interior, and a 1993 Lincoln Mark VIII Custom with a 4.6L 32-valve V-8 engine and automatic transmission.

 

Horton Classic Car Museum Memorabilia Collection

The Horton Classic Car Museum Memorabilia Collection of more than 150 items offered all at no reserve once lined the walls, floor and ceiling of a well-known classic car museum. The vast and eclectic selection of neon, plastic and porcelain signs, gas pumps, gas pump globes and other items are headlined by a 1964 Texas Double-Sided Porcelain Sign (Lot Z324), a 1920s Texas Sky Chief Fry Mae Model 117 Visible Gas Pump (Lot Z263) and 1909 Cretors Model C Popcorn Wagon (Lot Z265). 

 

USCG Master Chief Steve Petersen Gas Pump Collection

The USCG Master Chief Steve Petersen Gas Pump Collection includes approximately 30 gas pumps that were restored by Petersen along with various “project pumps” and essential parts used in their restorations. Among the restored examples are a 1930 White Rose Wayne Model 615 Visible Gas Pump, a 1927-1930 Magnolia Gasoline Tokheim Model 610 Visible Gas Pump, an Indian Gas Tokheim Model 39 Gas Pump and a Bennett 1500 Previsible Gas Pump
