July 2022 Mid-Sized SUV Sales

This week we take a look at one of the most popular segments of the car market, mid-sized SUVs.  This segment was down in July 2022 when compared to July 2021, but it is important to note, these numbers only reflect automakers that report sales on a monthly basis.  We will be able to get a better look after the September sales are closed.

As you will see, the vast majority of the SUVs in this segment were off, some substantially, as a result of the microchip shortage.  Toyota, Honda, and Subaru have really suffered this year, but you’ll also see that apparently Ford was able to procure some chips somewhere, as Ford sales across the board rebounded in July.

Here are your sales leaders in the mid-sized SUV category in July 2022 from the automakers that report monthly, and how it compared to July 2021:
