Honda is receiving a big recognition from Wards Auto. The automaker's next-generation hybrid powertrain is among the 2023 "Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems" award winners.  Wards Auto editors named the Honda Accord Hybrid to its list, with several judges comparing its "swift acceleration to that of an electric vehicle."

Honda's fourth-generation two-motor hybrid electric system produces 204 horsepower.  It also makes the most powerful Accord yet thanks to its 247 lb.-ft of torque.   Honda says the two-motor hybrid-electric power unit features two larger and more powerful electric motors that are now mounted side-by-side, rather than in-line as in previous generations.

Note, while its award status is based on Accord Hybrid, you can find the same system in the new 2023 CR-V lineup as well. Honda says its hybrid powertrain, which accounts for more than 50% of both Accord and CR-V sales, maximizes efficiency without compromising dynamic performance or packaging.   Honda says the new powertrain also delivers a sportier and more pleasant driving experience,  something we can attest to in our reviews of both models.

As Honda is extremely focused on hybrids, four of the Accord's six trims are hybrids, including the Sport, EX-L, Sport-L and Touring, which are positioned at the top of the 11th generation Accord lineup.  For more on the new Accord check out our review here→

Hybrid models also sit atop the CR-V lineup.  Three of the lineups six trims are hybrids.  The CR-V Sport-L hybrid trim was added for 2024. The CR-V shares the power figures of the Accord, 204 horses and 247 pound-feet of toque. For more on the new CR-V check out our review here →
