Edmunds is sharing its Top Rated Awards 2024, an annual list that recognizes the models it deems are the best vehicles on sale today — irrespective of when they were launched. This year's big overall winner: the new 2024 Kia EV9, the first mainstream three-row EV on the market.
The Top Rated Awards are based on Edmunds' extensive vehicle testing each year. Edmunds says every year its editorial team tests 300-plus vehicles, driving more than 500,000 miles to deliver the definitive Edmunds Rating, the foundation of the awards.
This year's list of winners is varied terms of body style, powertrain and price point.
The winners of the Edmunds Top Rated Awards 2024 are:
- Edmunds Top Rated Car 2024 — Toyota Prius
- Edmunds Top Rated Electric Car 2024 — BMW i5
- Edmunds Top Rated SUV 2024 — Kia Sportage Hybrid
- Edmunds Top Rated Electric SUV 2024 — Kia EV9
- Edmunds Top Rated Truck 2024 — Chevrolet Colorado
- Edmunds Top Rated Electric Truck 2024 — Ford F-150 Lightning
- Edmunds Top Rated Best of the Best 2024 — Kia EV9

- Four vehicles are making their first-ever appearance on the Edmunds Top Rated list. They are the Toyota Prius, BMW i5, Kia EV9 and Chevrolet Colorado.
- In the gas-powered categories, the Kia Sportage Hybrid is a back-to-back winner.
- On the electric side, the Ford F-150 Lightning receives its second consecutive Edmunds Top Rated Electric Truck honor.
- The Edmunds Top Rated Best of the Best award recognizes the standout vehicle among Edmunds Top Rated winners. Edmunds says consideration is given to the vehicle's impact, innovation and relevance to car shoppers. This year the top honors go to the Kia EV9.
