The Car Pro Show sends a big congratulations this week to the newly named President and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Capital America (HCA), Jim Drotman. Drotman is long-time friend of Car Pro Show host Jerry Reynolds. The two met during Reynolds' days as a Ford dealer.
Formerly with Ford Credit, Drotman's new position took effect June 2, 2025. In this role, HCA says Drotman will lead HCA's partnerships with Hyundai Motor America, Kia America, and Genesis Motor America to better serve Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis dealers and customers while also positioning HCA as the premier financing partner for innovative mobility businesses across Hyundai Motor Group.
"Talk about an American success story. Jim Drotman worked at the Dallas Ford Motor Credit Branch when I was a Ford dealer and Chairman of the Ford National Dealer Council. He was one of the friendliest and sharpest guys at Ford Credit, and you just knew he was destined for greatness," said Jerry Reynolds. "I admit, I didn’t see him ever leaving Ford Credit, and so him being named CEO and President of Hyundai’s America’s captive credit arm, Hyundai Capital was a surprise. HCA is extremely lucky to have his expertise and leadership."
Drotman succeeds Marcelo Brutti who moved on to a new role within the company as Executive Vice President, Head of Global Business Division and Head of Hyundai Capital Americas Region.
"I look forward to working closely with Jim to focus on HCA’s strategic growth while delivering quality service to our customers, dealers, and OEMs," said Brutti. "Jim brings exceptional leadership, vision, and experience that will continue to drive HCA forward in its mission."
"HCA has established itself as a leader in captive finance and mobility solutions," Drotman said. "As I take on this new role, my commitment is to build upon the company’s momentum in collaboration with our dealers, OEMs, and incredible team.”
Before joining HCA, Drotman was most recently Ford Credit's Chief Transformation Officer (CTO). During his time there, HCA says he led the development of a comprehensive digital financing platform tailored for commercial customers, which significantly enhanced the customer experience and streamlining operations. Prior to that role, Drotman held other various leadership positions within Ford Credit, including Executive Vice President overseeing operations in the U.S., Canada, and International Markets; Executive Director of Sales and Marketing for Ford Credit Europe; Managing Director of Ford Credit Britain; Vice President of Marketing in North America; and President of Ford Credit China.
In addition to his success in financial services, Drotman has also served on the Board of Directors for RouteOne LLC, contributing to strategic decisions in automotive financing solutions.
Drotman earned a bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a master's degree from Southern Methodist University.
"Sincere congratulations to Jim Drotman, along with his lovely wife Shannon and their children. This is a well deserved promotion," said Reynolds. "I will also say congratulations to my Hyundai Dealer friends all over the country. You have no idea how good a person and manager is leading Hyundai Capital."
