Subaru is introducing the all-new, bolder, smarter and roomier 2026 Subaru Outback.  The  model  - which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year - gets bolder looks, upgraded tech and new innovative safety features.  The seventh-generation Outback also offers more cargo space, too, thanks to a 2-inch taller roofline.

The lineup also includes the all-new 2026 Outback Subaru Wilderness, the most capable Outback ever. It features an all-new rugged exterior, upgraded suspension with new electronically controlled dampers and all-terrain tires.

Of course, as you'd expect the next-gen model features standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive that's been improved for 2026 along with the newest version of Subaru’s award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist Technology which incorporates three forward-facing cameras and newly added radar sensors for additional support.

The new Outback's cabin has a cleaner design and features an all-new 12.1-inch touchscreen center display. It along with a 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster are standard on all models.  The cluster has a new Calm Mode to minimize driver distraction. Also new, a haptic-feedback steering wheel warning that relays information to drivers quicker.

Subaru says it's also improved the Outback's comfort and ride quality. It's quieter, too, thanks to sound-absorbing materials used in the roof and headliner. Subaru says wind noise has been reduced by 10% through the use of aerodynamic elements in the body sides and roof rails.

All trims of the Outback are also equipped with a revised X-MODE® system for better performance off-road in a variety of conditions.

In safety news, for first time on any Subaru, Emergency Stop Assist with Safe Lane Selection activates if the driver becomes unresponsive to warnings while using Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control. If the driver becomes unresponsive, the system will change lanes if needed to pull the vehicle over safely to the shoulder, activate the hazard lamps, notify emergency services, and unlock the doors for first responders.

The 2026 Subaru Outback is offered in Premium, Limited, Touring, Limited XT, Touring XT, and Wilderness trim levels.   All but the Wilderness arrive in late in 2025, with the Wilderness model due out in early 2026.
