Cars Most Likely To Make It To 250,000 Miles

If you like to keep your vehicle a long time - long as in at least 250,000-miles - here's a list you'll want to pay attention to.  It's iSeeCars' latest look into vehicles most likely to make it to at least 250K. Toyota once again tops the list - standing out as the longest-lasting car brand, giving owners substantially better odds than average of their vehicles reaching at least 250,000 miles.

The Longest Lasting Car Brands Study by iSeeCars Research analyzed more than 395 million vehicles and found Toyota models have a 19.7% chance of reaching the quarter-million-mile mark. That is 3.7 times the 5.4% overall average. 

Toyota leads a Japanese sweep of the top four brands.

The undeniable pattern at the top of the overall rankings is the concentration of Japanese brands. Toyota, Lexus, Honda, and Acura occupy the first four positions, and all four substantially outperform the 5.4% overall average.

In fact, of the 33 brands included in the study, only five rank above the industry average of a 5.4% chance of reaching 250,000 miles.

Toyota's 19.7% chance of reaching 250,000 miles is notable because it is more than three times the industry average and comfortably ahead of second-place Lexus at 14.4%. Honda follows closely behind Lexus at 13.3%, while Acura at 9.5% is still 1.8 times the overall average.

GMC is the highest-ranking non-Japanese brand, placing fifth at 5.8%. Mazda follows at 5.3%. After Mazda, all of the remaining brands have less than a 5.0% estimated chance of reaching 250,000 miles.
