Alleged Thieves Nabbed Quickly Because They Had To Charge Their Tesla

Here’s a lesson for would-be thieves:  Don’t use an electric car as a getaway vehicle.  This happened in Gwinnett County, Georgia near Atlanta.

According to news reports, two alleged thieves were recently caught by police after stopping to charge their Tesla Model X getaway vehicle.

The alleged theft reportedly occurred at a Sam's Club store. Witnesses at the scene told police the suspects had fled in a Model X.  Police broadcast a description of the vehicle and didn't have to go far to find them. Police found them at a Tesla Supercharger roughly 10 miles from the alleged scene of the crime.

When arresting the suspects, police also reportedly found the vehicle packed with $8,000 worth of stolen merchandise including gaming systems and electric toothbrushes. They also found guns and marijuana. Gwinnett County Police shared pics on social media:

It's not clear if the Tesla belonged to one of the suspects or if it was stolen.
