Written By: CarPro | Nov 30, 2023 9:00:00 AM

It's finally arrived! By it, we mean the all-new 2025 Toyota Camry.  Its stylish new looks impress but the biggest news - though not unsurprising - is that the ninth- generation Camry leaves a gas-only powertrain in the rearview mirror. Like the new Crown sedan,  the new Camry is only available as a hybrid.

Here's a quick rundown on some of the new Camry's highlights:

  • It's exclusively equipped with Toyota's fifth generation Toyota Hybrid System that delivers up to 232-horsepower on the available all-wheel drive model.
  • Toyota says it's re-engineered the suspension and braking system for balanced handling and comfort.
  • All-wheel drive is available on every grade.
  • Safety includes standard Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.

Looks

The new Camry retains its distinctly Camry looks but with a sleeker and more modern. athletic interpretation. All grades feature slim LED headlights, daytime running lights and taillights. It also wears Toyota's new "Beyond Zero" badge signifying the brand's commitment to reducing carbon emissions and its vision for a carbon neutral future.

The SE and XSE grades are the grades with sporty exterior styling with a sleek roofline and a chiseled body. They also feature racing-inspired functional aerodynamic air ducts, front-side canards and a rear diffuser. The rear is also equipped with an exposed dual-tip exhaust and a rear lip spoiler. The XSE takes things up a notch further with a unique color matched front grille and black trunk garnish.  The SE grade rides on standard 18-inch multi-spoke black-finished alloy wheels, the XSE on standard 19-inch multi-spoke black and smoke gray-finished alloys.

New exterior colors to the lineup include Ocean Gem and Heavy Metal. They join Camry favorites like Ice Cap, Wind Chill Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic, Underground, Midnight Black Metallic, Supersonic Red, and Reservoir Blue.

For a two-tone look you'll need the XSE grade which adds an available two-tone look with Ocean Gem, Wind Chill Pearl, Heavy Metal and Supersonic Red paired with a Midnight Black Metallic roof.

Powertrain

Now about the powertrain. The Camry is exclusively available with a hybrid engine. It brings the Toyota's first sedan pairing of its 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder, engine and fifth-generation two electric motor Toyota Hybrid System. The system delivers 225 horsepower on front-wheel drive models and 232 horsepower on AWD equipped models. Toyota says its engineers tuned the new hybrid electric system at lower speeds to reduce engine RPMs and increase power from the traction battery to provide "satisfying acceleration and torque feel."  Also for the first time,  AWD is available on all hybrid grades.

Toyota says the 2025 Camry also has a retuned suspension for enhanced responsiveness and agile handling. Sport grades have a specific sport-tuned suspension.

Interior

The cabin of the new Camry features a more open-concept layout than the previous generation.  Each grade has unique design elements.

The SE and XSE have the sportiest cabins. The SE's SofTex®-trimmed seats feature sporty bold white accents in either Boulder or Black. The XSE adds a standard leather-trimmed interior with artistic “shooting blade” patterned perforations found on both the side door trim and seating surfaces. The XSE interior is available in two colors: Black with blue lined perforations or the fan-favorite Cockpit Red. Both the SE and XSE grades come equipped with standard aluminum sport pedals and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters.

The comfort-oriented LE grade features an expertly designed interior inspired by ocean waves with an embossed pattern in woven fabric found on the interior trim and seat surfaces in Boulder or Black. The higher-end XLE is the first Toyota Camry to feature leather and Dinamica® microfiber-trimmed seats offered in Light Gray or Black. A quilted pattern in this material can also be found on the front door panels and dashboard.

Toyota also says it's also made the Camry's seats more comfortable by changing the shape and density of the seat cushion as well as making the cushions longer. The headrest is also softer, too, and moved rearward to enhance seat and ride comfort.

For three-level heated and ventilated seats you'll want to opt for the higher-end XLE and XSE grades. Toyota says the higher-end grades also have quieter cabins thanks to standard front-side acoustic laminated glass designed to help reduce wind noise and harshness.

Standard lineup features include smart-key with push-to-start button, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system with rear air vents.  The XLE grade offers an available driver’s memory seat and memory side view mirrors.  The XLE also has available automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Also,  for the first time on a Camry Hybrid, the XLE and XSE grades will have the option of adding a power tilt and slide panoramic roof with a power-retractable sunshade.

Tech Updates

The 2025 Camry brings a long-awaited technology update.  A 7-inch digital gauge cluster comes standard on LE and SE models, while a standard 12.3-in fully digital gauge cluster is found in the XLE and XSE grades. The XLE and XSE grades also come with an available 10-inch Head Up Display.

The Camry also upgrades to the new Toyota Auto Multimedia System, with a standard 8-inch touchscreen display or an available 12.3-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard and there's also a standard Qi wireless charging pad. There are both USB-A and USB-C ports, with three in the front and two in the rear across all grades.
