We couldn't be happier to hear about the new updates coming to the 2024 Volkswagen ID.4.  The all-electric crossover will get a major power boost, a better infotainment display and a new premium audio system for the upcoming model year.

2024 ID.4 82 kWh Upgrades

The ID.4 82 kWh (the larger of two battery options) benefits from the 2024 updates. Its power boost is thanks to a new performance drive unit that VW says will deliver greater performance. Rear-wheel drive 82 kWh models now produce 282 horsepower (up from 201), while those with all-wheel-drive now deliver around 330 horses (up from 295).  No new range figures yet but VW says it expects those to improve, too. (For reference the 2023 ID.4 Pro S AWD model has a 275-mile range.)

In the cabin, 82 kWh ID. 4 upgrades include a new 12.9-inch display with backlit sliders, as well a new and more intuitive climate control interface and a revised infotainment menu. There is also a new shifter position and a revised steering wheel layout.  S models with the 82 kWh battery also add ventilated front-row seats, and S Plus models receive an upgraded 9-speaker Harmon Kardon audio system.

Other upgrades include enhanced wheels. ID.4 Standard AWD models feature larger, 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, and S Plus vehicles upgrade to 21-inch machined alloy wheels.

Trims and Availability

The 2024 ID.4, assembled in Tennessee,  is available in three trims: Standard/Pro, S and S Plus. There are two battery options - the 62 kWh or 82 kWh, available as as rear-wheel- or all-wheel drive.

The 2024 ID.4 goes on sale in early 2024.  VW says the 2023 ID.4 models are eligible for the full potential Federal Tax Credit of up to $7,500.
