Fall means Mecum Auctions is headed back to Dallas. Mecum Dallas returns to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center next week from Sept. 8-11. Mecum says it expects an estimated 1,000 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, trucks, exotics, customs, Resto Mods and more to cross the auction block.

Mecums' annual Dallas auction dates back to 2011. The auction house calls the Texas market a "consistently strong and welcoming one year after year."  For 2021, Mecum says the lineup boasts a heavy concentration of classic American muscle.

Highlights

Highlights this year include a 3,645-mile 1969 Chevrolet COPO Camaro with its original Daytona Yellow paint, sheet metal and interior that’s been owned by the same family for 45 years. There is also a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback showing KK No. 2274 and sporting a 429/375 HP V-8 engine and 4-speed close-ratio manual transmission.

A 1966 RCR Ford GT40 Replica  is one of six built by RCR for use in the award-winning film “Ford v Ferrari.” Powered by a 5.7L V-8 engine and 6-speed manual transmission, the vehicle was nicknamed the “Dan Gurney Car” since it was the No. 3 car used in the Le Mans race scenes.

Collections

The William Scott Collection includes five lots with each boasting a high-quality restoration; the group is highlighted by an MCA Gold Award-winning 1969 Shelby GT350 Fastback with a matching-numbers 351 CI engine and 4-speed transmission. Other lots in the collection are a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback with a matching-numbers 428 CI engine and 4-speed transmission; a 1965 Pontiac GTO with a 389/335 HP engine and 4-speed transmission; a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS packing a 396/375 HP engine and its original Muncie M21 transmission; and a 1970 Plymouth GTX with a rebuilt V-Code 440 6-BBL engine, transmission and differential.

The Triple B Collection offers a vast selection of 18 Ford Mustang and Ford Shelby models along with two outliers: a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro with an LS V-8 engine and Tremec 5-speed manual transmission, and a 1957 Chevrolet Nomad with a fuel-injected 350 CI Ramjet V-8 engine.

The Meaney Collection of six lots comprises a diverse selection including a 1941 Cadillac Series 62 Deluxe Coupe, a 1971 Austin America Coupe (Lot F93) and a 1963 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible.
