This March Nissan will put the new electric Ariya SUV to the test by undertaking a 27,000 kilometer trip from the magnetic North Pole to the South Pole. Nissan design and engineering teams are working with Arctic Trucks to get the Ariya ready for tough terrains and extreme weather conditions. Nissan says they’ve intentionally kept modifications to the Ariya at a minimum to prove it can handle it.

Pole to Pole EV Expedition Leader Chris Ramsey says quote, “One of the things that underpins all the adventures we do is that we take a standard production EV and aim to make minimal changes to clearly demonstrate its real, everyday capabilities, regardless of where you are driving it.” End Quote. No changes to the battery or powertrain were made. Ramsey says they did modify the suspension and widened the wheel arches to be more stable for the 39-inch BF Goodrich tires. The starting MSRP is $43,190. For more information on these and other vehicles, check out CarPro.com. With Today’s Auto News, I’m Laura Reynolds.
