I’m Laura Reynolds with CarProUSA.com.  The Ford F-150 Raptor R features a new 5.2-liter supercharged V8 with 700-horsepower and 640 pounds of foot torque. Ford Marketing Manager for the F-150 Raptor R Brian Bell talks about how Ford installed a new pulley to optimize its power for off-road use. Bell: "They had to make some changes and I don't have a lot of the details on it but they made some changes the pulley's, some other changes to the powertrain really to kind of give it, it's the Shelby GT500 engine, the 5.2 is, the Ford Performance developed, but they've had to modify it or they modified it to be a better fit for the Raptor R, right.  So they did things that give it more low-end torque, more mid-range torque, cut the horsepower a little bit versus the Shelby but it gives it that torque that a truck really needs or that you really need when you're in the desert, right, when you're trying to get moving in that sand you want that low-end torque to really, really kind of boost you and accelerate you, right, and so, so that's the stuff that they did really kind of focused on that."
