Besides the Car Pro Show and our weekly newsletter, my other favorite radio show and newsletter is Kim Komando’s. We are on many of the same radio stations across America. She does for her listeners and newsletter subscribers exactly what I endeavor to do: Give you useful information to keep you up to date on the latest in cars, only she does it with technology and there is nobody who does it better. Not sure how she puts out a top-notch newsletter seven days a week, but she does.
With her permission, I comb her newsletters each week and curate a list of her tips and advice that I think you'll find relevant and interesting. Here's what I have for you this week!
Tech Tips & Interesting Finds From This Week’s Komando Newsletters:
Delivery van stalking: After reading this, checking my bumper feels less paranoid than practical. A 72-year-old in Wooster, Ohio, illegally stuck a GPS tracker on a delivery driver’s van to follow Pokémon card shipments. The driver found it during a Walmart stop. The suspect pleaded no contest, got a $500 fine, probation and a no-contact order. Sometimes “gotta catch ’em all” gets you caught. Cheap trackers can map school runs, commutes and grocery trips. Check your car, and call the police if something looks wrong.
Score! I’m getting $56.92 from Amazon: Maybe you have money coming, too. Did Amazon shortchange you on a return? You may be owed a slice of a $309.5 million settlement. It covers items returned from Sept. 5, 2017, to Feb. 12, 2026, that got a late, partial or missing refund, or a charge for something you sent back. Many shoppers get paid automatically, with interest. Everyone else must file a claim at ReturnSettlement.com by Dec. 1.
⚡️ 3-second tech genius: Can’t find your phone? Say (or shout), “Hey, Siri, set a timer for five seconds” (use “Hey, Google” on Android). It’ll ring even on silent. Make sure voice activation is set up beforehand: Settings > Siri > Turn On Siri, or Google app > Settings > Gemini > Talk to Gemini hands-free. Beats checking under the same cushion twice. 😉
