As I worked on this week's special 25th anniversary of 9/11 newsletter, I wanted to create something that honored not only the 2,977 lives taken on September 11, 2001, but also the extraordinary courage revealed that day and the way our country came together afterward. The result is a song I wrote and produced called “We Promised We’d Never Forget.” It remembers the people who left home that morning and never returned, the heroes who ran toward danger while others were trying to escape, and the ordinary Americans who reminded us what courage and sacrifice truly look like.
Most of all, it is about the promise we made as a nation 25 years ago—a promise that becomes meaningless unless each new generation understands what happened, whom we lost and how America responded.
