This week, we’re looking at the 2023 Jeep Compass Trailhawk for you. Trailhawk editions are Jeep’s most capable off-road vehicles.
My Sting Gray review vehicle looks awesome with a partial black hood and the Trailhawk red decal, red tow hooks in the front and back, black wheels with off-road tires, and a spoiler in the rear.
It proudly wears the Trail Rated badge on the front fenders to signify it is Jeep’s best-of-the-best for off-roading.
New for 2023, under the hood, is a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine putting out 200-horses and 221-pound feet of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The surprise in this compact SUV was the luxurious interior. Soft touch materials abound, and it has stitching throughout.
The gauge cluster is digital, colorful, configurable, and very easy to see and read.
Center dash is a 10.1” screen that operates the Alpine sound system, Nav system, Bluetooth, vehicle settings, the 360-degree camera, and the apps page. This is where you hook-up to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. You can also activate voice commands and utilize Alexa.
Under that are buttons for turning off start/stop, and you can turn on and off the Park Sense system, that will parallel park the Compass.
Further down, you find a wireless phone charger, USB and USB-C ports, and the controls for the drive modes and you can lock in the 4-wheel drive system if you get into rough terrain.
Back seat room is pretty tight, head room is OK for people up to 6-feet tall or so.
Back seat passengers get their own air conditioning vents, USB and USB-C ports, and a power outlet.
Cargo area is good and there is some extra storage underneath where the spare tire is.
This Compass Trailhawk is super loaded with a dual-pane panoramic moonroof, remote start, power liftgate, power front heated and air conditioned seats, and the trailer towing package.
On the safety side, you get adaptive cruise control, park assist, active driving assist, lane management, forward collision warning with active braking, and blind spot monitoring.
Make no mistake, the Compass Trailhawk is a true off-road SUV, yet would be a wonderful daily driver for anyone.
It is quiet inside, handling is fantastic, and it corners very well. Acceleration is strong when the turbo kicks in and you’ll have no problems getting up on the freeway.
Fuel economy is rated at 24 city and 32 highway, which is good for a 4x4 SUV.
MSRP is $47,235 as you see this loaded SUV. It seems like a lot for a compact SUV, but remember, it is a Trail Rated Jeep and is incredibly capable off the pavement and it will tow 2,000 pounds.
