2025 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Premium Review

Written by Amy Plemons | Sep 12, 2025 12:50:55 PM

This week, I bring you a sports coupe that really needs no introduction - but I'll give it one anyway. It's the 2025 Toyota GR Supra 3.0 Premium. I can never be behind the wheel of this truly exhilarating and fun-to-drive sports car too many times. Its looks are show-stopping and its engineering and driving dynamics are pure perfection.

TAKE NOTE: Production of the fifth-generation GR Supra will end in the spring of 2026, with a sixth-generation in the works, possibly for the 2027 model year. Toyota will also go it alone this time, ending its BMW partnership for the next-generation model.

Exterior

The Supra may currently share a platform with the BMW Z4,  but you have to credit Toyota's design team 100% for its absolutely head-turning aerodynamic silhouette. It's without a doubt one of the best-looking sports cars on the road today.  In every color and at every angle.

I loved the  45th Anniversary Edition's deep orange Mikan Blast hue.  But there is just something about a sports car wearing red. In this case,  it's Renassaince Red, paired just beautifully with 19-inch forged gunmetal wheels wrapped by Michelin Super Sport summer tires.  It's always a glorious moment, too, when you see Brembo brakes with red brake calipers.

Other Supra exterior features include aero underbody panels, LED headlights, daytime running lights and tail lights,  a rear spoiler,  heated exterior mirrors and a dual-branch exhaust manifold.

Performance

The rear-wheel drive GR Supra is flat-out a joy to drive thanks to Toyota's Gazoo Racing influence. Its turbo 3.0-liter inline-6 delivers an exhilarating 382-horsepower and 368 pound-feet of torque. A manual gearbox is available, but this model has a fantastic 8-speed automatic with a 3.9 second 0-60 time vs. the manual's 4.2. Launch control is there for you when you need it on the track.  Hit the sport mode button and the active exhaust amps up the sporty factor. Active rear sport differential is standard across the lineup.

Interior

What an interior. Two-toned Hazelnut and black leather-trimmed sport seats and heated steering wheel. Carbon fiber trim. Sport Pedals. It's refined, sporty and well-crafted. 14-way power-adjustable sport seats with deep side bolsters keep you snugly in place and the silver hardware in the seat backs looks great. The seats also have three-level heating.

Tech in here isn't what you find in a typical Toyota.  Both the digital driver display and touchscreen are evidence of the BMW partnership.  The digital drivers display fits the Supra's sporty vibe perfectly with its large RPM display. It also displays the speed limit.

An 8.8-inch touchscreen runs the Toyota Supra Connect multimedia/navigation system which can also be controlled via a rotary touch controller on the center console.  On the Premium grade, the system is compatible with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Sport displays show real-time power and torque numbers.

The carbon fiber trimmed center console looks upscale and the gear shift is another sign of BMW influence.

Other Premium grade features include a 12-speaker JBL sound system, color head-up display, wireless charging,  dual-zone climate, a locked glove box, and a USB port along with a 12-volt.

No, there's not a ton of cargo space, but as long as you aren't going bulk shopping you should be ok.

Ride and Drive

The GR Supra is one exhilarating and incredibly satisfying sport coupe to drive - delivering fast acceleration and sharp handling. It owes its impressive ride quality to adaptive variable sport suspension.

Its low center of gravity also keeps this rear-wheel drive machine planted to the road while the sport seats hold you firmly in place. Normal, Sport, and Individual modes adjust throttle and steering response settings along with the sound of the Active Exhaust.   And don't think this is just for the track - the Supra is most certainly designed for the everyday driver, too.

Safety

All Supra's come standard with Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning with Steering Assist,  Vehicle Stability Control, Brake Assist, Anti-lock Brake System, Automatic High Beams and a Child Restraint System on the passenger seat. Automatic Transmission equipped GR Supra models also have Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Additionally, this model adds a Driver Assist Package with Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Blind Spot monitor, Rear Cross Traffic Alert,  and Parking Sensors with emergency braking.

What You'll Pay

Options include the Driver Assist Package ($1,195), carpet cargo mat ($110) and wheel locks ($90.). As equipped MSRP is $61,930 with destination.  Buyers also receive a complimentary 1-year membership to the National Auto Sport association.
