This week we are taking another look at the very large 2025 Ram 2500. I had the Rebel not long ago, and now I bring you the 2025 Ram Limited Longhorn Crew Cab 4x4, a heavy-duty truck that will do some serious towing and hauling while surrounding you with a truly luxurious interior. This beast has the High-Output Cummins diesel, it will tow almost 20,000 pounds, and you can bet it does so with an ease.
Exterior
On the outside, the Longhorn Limited presents a top-notch look with a big, updated chrome grille, refined LED headlights and taillights, and big 20” diamond-cut wheels.
New for 2025 are the trailer towing mirrors that extend and retract at the push of a button and include cameras to give you a clear view down both sides when you’re hooked to a trailer. An optional auto-leveling rear air suspension helps settle the truck when carrying heavy loads, making it more civilized on the road.
The Bright White Clear Coat exterior color looks terrific. I particularly like the raised hood with a large 2500 Heavy Duty logos on both sides and the Cummins logo adorns the front fenders.
Performance
Under the big hood is the famous 6.7-liter Cummins High-Output turbo diesel, putting out 430-horses and a massive 1,075-pound feet of torque, paired with a heavy-duty 8-speed automatic transmission. The torque is nothing short of incredible, making light work of big trailers and steep grades. Acceleration is strong, cruising is effortless, and the big Cummins is super-quiet, even under heavy acceleration.
Interior
Inside, the Longhorn Limited is more luxurious than ever. You’ll find 100% leather seats with intricate Southwestern-style stitching (think Ford King Ranch) on the seats and door panels, genuine wood trim, and metal accents.
The seats are heated and ventilated, and rear passengers get more than generous space. Check out the cool belt buckles in the rear that cover the big rear map pockets. The cabin is void of outside sounds thanks to active noise cancellation, and everywhere you look the craftsmanship is top-notch.
Technology moves up a notch in the 2025 Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn, led by a commanding 14.4-inch Uconnect5 touchscreen that controls nearly everything on board—from navigation and entertainment to climate functions and customizable apps.
A new passenger-side display lets the right-seat co-pilot handle their own screen duties, while the driver benefits from a sharp, fully digital and configurable instrument cluster. Towing tech takes center stage too, with a 360-degree camera system, trailer reverse steering assist, and an integrated brake controller designed to make hitching, backing, and hauling far simpler. You’ll need some time to explore all the layers of menus and options hiding inside.
Moving to the back seat, is every bit as refined as the front, offering limo-like space and top-shelf comfort. The wide rear doors make entry easy, and once inside, passengers enjoy air conditioned and heated seats, generous legroom, and soft leather surfaces with the same detailed stitching and real wood trim found up front.
A fold-down armrest with cupholders adds convenience, while rear passengers also get their own climate controls, air vents, USB ports, and a 115-volt outlet. The seat bottoms flip up to reveal under-seat storage, and a fold-flat load floor makes the area perfect for stowing gear or luggage and a place for Fido to stretch out.
On the safety side, the 2025 Longhorn is loaded: lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and active lane management are all present. New this year is traffic sign recognition and a drowsy driver alert system, making the truck not only powerful but also smarter about keeping you safe.
My review truck for this week has a whopping $22,500 worth of options, with a lot of those bucks attributed to the $12,595 Cummins High-Output diesel under the hood. It also has the $135 gooseneck prep, $895 for the Tow Technology Control (digital rearview mirror, side mirror cameras, and trailer backup system), $1,195 for the power moon roof, cab lights run $95, leveling air suspension, which is a must in my opinion is $1,705, and the transfer case skid plate is $95.
It also has the $4,495 Level 1 Longhorn equipment group which bundles a spray-in bedliner, rear anti-spin differential axle, Drowsy Driver Detection, a digital rearview mirror, LED center high-mounted stop lamp with Cargo-View Camera, power-deployable running boards, LED bed lighting, Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Traffic Sign Recognition, Adaptive Steering System, Active Lane Management System, a Surround-View Camera System, and Trailer Reverse Guidance.
One last option and it’s a great offering, the $1,295 on-board power system. This is a factory-installed inverter that delivers 2.4 kilowatts of 115-volt AC power through strategically placed outlets. You’ll find one inside the cabin to handle things like laptops, chargers, or small appliances, and another mounted in the bed for jobsite tools, outdoor gear, or tailgating equipment.
The system makes it easy to power or charge devices without hauling along a separate generator, and it’s always ready to go with the push of a button. For contractors, campers, or anyone who needs reliable power away from an outlet, it’s a simple and smart upgrade that adds everyday usefulness to a heavy-duty truck.
Driving the 2025 Longhorn with the Cummins diesel is a wonderful experience and it feels smaller than it is. The torque is always on tap when you push hard on the gas pedal. The suspension tuning and cabin refinement give it a smoother, quieter ride than you’d expect from something this capable and heavy-duty. Despite its size, advanced cameras and mirrors make maneuvering less intimidating and the Ram has a surprisingly tight turning radius.
Fuel economy is not rated on over 8,500 pound GVWR vehicles. This much power and capacity in a very loaded pickup comes with a hefty price tag, but shoppers of trucks like this expect it. MSRP as equipped is $100,695 and that is sort of the going rate these days for the top-of-the-line heavy-duty trucks with this much luxury.
This truck is a great combination of muscle, comfort, and technology, the 2025 Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn with the High-Output Cummins diesel raises the bar for heavy-duty trucks, and it is on par with Ford as far as trailer towing features. It has the brawn to do real work but pampers you with luxury touches and modern tech that make it just as at home on a long highway trip as it is pulling a heavy trailer down a back road.
