As always, car dealers view holidays as a time when they go into volume mode. July 4^th is a rare opportunity for them to start a new month on a high note. Most, but not all of our dealers will be open this Saturday, July 4th. Many will be cooking out, all will be having sales, and the atmosphere will be right for getting a holiday deal.

There is further urgency for car buyers who missed the end of month and end of quarter on June 30^th: The great incentives across the board were largely extended through Monday, July 6^th including Ford’s Employee Pricing. However, I look for a dip down in incentives because that is what happens after the July 4^th holiday every year.

Dealers will be very aggressive this week on trade values because the used market continues to rise, and they won’t miss any business. There are a lot of below market interest rates, and even car companies that are big into leasing have increased lease incentives to lower payments.

If you were thinking of a new vehicle this year, or you want to take advantage of Tax Code 179, I can tell you with 100% confidence, prices will indeed be higher starting next Tuesday. Remember, too, income tax on car auto loans is deductible for most purchases this year!

When we were doing The Road To 250 recording for this Saturday, we had an outline of the things we wanted to cover, like the patriotic songs and speeches we wanted to include. But as we started one segment, out of the clear blue, I said to Todd: “have you seen all the World Cup visitors raving about America? Buc-ees, ranch dressing, barbeque, our roads, how nice everybody is, etc.?” We discussed that for a few minutes as you’ll hear on the national show, and I couldn’t quit thinking about it. People who have never been to America, many who had heard how terrible we were suddenly realized what a wonderful country we have. I asked the question aloud, “why don’t we see it?"

Suddenly it hit me, like it always does, and I started working on a new song. I decided to name it Why Can’t Everybody See it? Think about it for a moment. We live in the greatest country on the planet, and all we do is bitch about it. So many of the sweet people in our country to watch a soccer game see it, while we take it completely for granted. The beauty of the countryside as we travel from sea-to-sea is lost on us sadly. The freedom to speak freely, the ability to work hard and get ahead, the safety provided by our military and first responders. It is all taken for granted. Have you ever wondered what life would look like if you were born in a different country?

That is what this song is about. So, ladies and gentlemen, I give you the newest song I wrote, arranged, and produced. Feel free to share it with whomever you wish. Listen closely and if you wish, follow along with the lyrics and reflect on just how lucky we are to live in America.

  Take A Minute: Independence Day Quotes 

Just my humble opinion, but many of our youth today do not realize the true meaning of the 4th of July. It is, after all, our Independence Day. Holidays are always fun and a great time to get together with family and friends, but freedom isn’t free, and never will be. America,
Still Worth Celebrating 

This Independence Day is not just another July 4th. America is turning 250 years old, and that is a milestone almost impossible to fully take in. Two hundred and fifty years of freedom, sacrifice, courage, mistakes, correction, progress, pain, triumph, loss, rebuilding, and hope. Two hundred and fifty years since a group of men signed their names to a document that changed the course of history and declared to the world that ordinary people had the right to govern themselves.

That is a huge deal.

I know we live in a time when it is easy to focus on what is wrong. We have plenty of problems. We have divisions. We have anger. We have too many people talking past each other and not enough people listening. But if we only focus on the problems, we miss the miracle. And make no mistake, America reaching 250 years as a free nation is a miracle worth stopping for.

As I worked on our special July 4th radio shows this week, I found myself thinking about the song I wrote called Why Can’t Everybody See It? That title says a lot about how I feel right now. I look around at this country, at the freedoms we enjoy, at the opportunities still available, at the men and women who have served and sacrificed, and at the everyday people who keep America moving, and I wonder why we don’t all stop more often and realize how blessed we are to live here.

America, to me, is not just the flag, the fireworks, the songs, or the parades, although I love every bit of that. America is opportunity. It is freedom. It is the ability to start with very little, work hard, treat people right, take some chances, fall down a time or two, get back up, and build a life that would be impossible in many parts of the world.

I have seen that in my own life. I saw it in the car business for decades, and I still see it every week through this newsletter and the Car Pro Show. I’ve watched people start at the bottom and work their way up. I’ve seen salespeople become managers, technicians build good lives for their families, young couples buy their first car, parents send kids off to college in something safe, and retirees finally buy the vehicle they always wanted. That may not sound like the history book version of America, but to me, it is America in real life.

For 250 years, this country has been built and rebuilt by people who worked hard, took risks, opened businesses, raised families, served customers, protected communities, wore uniforms, farmed the land, drove the trucks, taught the kids, fixed the cars, answered the phones, and showed up even when it was hard. Those people don’t always make the headlines, but they are the backbone of this nation.

Think about what 250 years represents. Generations of soldiers who left home not knowing if they would return. Families who sacrificed while loved ones served. Immigrants who came here with almost nothing and built new lives. Entrepreneurs who risked everything to open a business. Parents who worked two jobs so their children could have more opportunity. Police officers, firefighters, EMTs, dispatchers, nurses, teachers, farmers, factory workers, truck drivers, and so many others who have kept this country moving one day at a time.

That is what America means to me.

It means freedom to speak, freedom to worship, freedom to work, freedom to travel, freedom to succeed, and yes, even freedom to fail and try again. It means being able to get in your car and drive across this incredible country, through small towns and big cities, past farms, mountains, deserts, lakes, factories, dealerships, diners, truck stops, and flagpoles in front yards. It means seeing people who may not all think alike, vote alike, worship alike, or live alike, but who still share more in common than we often realize.

Most of us want the same basic things. We want our families safe. We want our kids and grandkids to have opportunity. We want honest work, fair treatment, good neighbors, and a future we can believe in. That has been true for a long time, and I believe it is still true today.

America is not perfect, and it never has been. But perfection was never the promise. The promise was freedom. The promise was opportunity. The promise was that we could keep working toward something better, generation after generation, if we had the courage and the will to do it.

So this July 4th, as America marks 250 years, I hope we do more than eat barbecue and watch fireworks. I hope we pause. I hope we remember. I hope we teach our kids and grandkids why this day matters. I hope we thank a veteran, a first responder, or someone who has served this country in some way. And I hope, even with all the noise around us, we remember what an extraordinary blessing it is to live in the United States of America.

Two hundred and fifty years later, this country is still beautiful, still strong, still worth believing in, and still worth celebrating.

Happy 250th birthday, America. God bless our troops, God bless our first responders, and God bless the United States of America.
