Dear Car Pro Family,

Thank you, Car Pro family, for the kind words about my induction into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, I cannot thank you enough for your support.  I hope too, you Veterans had a wonderful day Tuesday, please know how much we all appreciate you!

GOOD STUFF today boys and girls!  We start with the J.D. Power U.S. Sales Satisfaction study.  I have a commentary piece on the talk of Ford doing away with the Lightning electric truckUsed cars are sky-high and in fact the highest prices we’ve seen in a year and half. For our Los Angeles friends, we have our guide to the L.A. Auto Show that is about to start.  And I have a list of the best vehicles for eating in your car.

'Tis the season!  Fleetwood Mac is helping Lexus kick off another December to Remember in November, there is a cool video to watch.  Plus, it is time for Kevin’s Famous Holiday Recipes just in time for Thanksgiving, don’t miss the mashed potatoes.  Also below, you’ll find some neat movie cars coming up at a Bonham Auction, and I’ve got the best-sellers at Mecum Dallas-Fort Worth and info on Mecum Las Vegas which is going on as we speak.

Kim Komando has some cool tech tips this week and don’t miss Kim’s Fun Quiz, the answer is at the very bottom of this newsletter, under my closing message, and don’t miss it this week, I have to share an amazing email I got.  I have a whole new batch of quirky and funny Quick Shift stories for you today, and don’t forget to go shopping in the Car Pro Merch shop, lots of good stuff there.  Get caught up on the tariff news! In advice, I'll share some guidance on when it's time to say goodbye to your car.

In car reviews, I have a great big 2026 Ram 2500 Warlock 4x4 Crew Cab diesel for you that is a great buy! Our Amy Plemons gives you an in-depth look at one of the most popular SUVs in America, the 2025 Lexus RX 350 AWD F SPORT.

If you have never read my True Stories from a Former Car Dealer series, may I suggest you do so.  People have loved this for a lot of years now.  You’ll learn more about me than you probably want to know, you’ll roar with laughter at some, and you’ll likely get a tear in your eyes on others.  They are all right here, 40 of them, carefully written by yours truly.

If you haven’t perused my FAQ page, please do.  There are likely multiple articles you can use, every one of them written by me.

All of our other regular features are below including the Classic Car Contest, our radio station listings, how to connect with us on Facebook and call the show to talk directly to me, and much, much, more.

We very much appreciate you being part of the newsletter family.  Without you, there is no Car Pro Show.  Let us know how we can help you, and if you haven’t been to our website lately, check it out at CarPro.com. It changes daily.

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

It's Time! Kevin's Famous Holiday Recipes!

Screen Shot 2025-11-13 at 3.17.13 PMThanksgiving is coming soon, so it's  time to share Kevin’s famous holiday recipes like we have done for well over a decade.

If you have started listening to the Car Pro Show in the last 15 months, you might not know that Kevin McCarthy was my on-air Trusty Sidekick for 23 years before retiring.  He had a legendary career as a talk radio show host and was a first year inductee into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.

Back from the days when Kevin had a Monday through Friday show, he had three recipes he gave out every holiday season and still to this day gets many requests for them.

There are the famous Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes, David Wade’s “turkey in a bag” and last, but not least, David Wade’s Rock Salt Prime Rib! Bon appĂ©tit!  Trust me on this, the mashed potatoes are the bomb!

Kim Komando's Quiz & Interesting Info

new-kim-kommando-graphiBesides the Car Pro Show and our weekly newsletter, my other favorite radio show and newsletter is Kim Komando’s.  We're on many of the same radio stations across America.  She does for her listeners and newsletter subscribers exactly what I endeavor to do:  Give you useful information to keep you up to date on the latest in cars, only she does it with technology and there is nobody who does it better.  Not sure how she puts out a top-notch newsletter seven days a week, but she does.

Kim’s Quiz:

Faith moves mountains, as they say, but what happens if you’re in zero gravity? One astronaut took prayer to new heights, literally.

🙏🏽 Can you guess who was the first person to take communion in space? Was it: A) Neil Armstrong, B) Buzz Aldrin, C) John Glenn or D) Mae Jemison? Because when you’re 240,000 miles above Earth, there’s no better time to reach for something even higher.

*The answer is under my closing message at the bottom.

Interesting items I found in this week’s Kim Komando newsletter:

  • See what your stuff’s really worth: Before you post, check what people actually pay. On eBay, click the Advanced button next to Search, type in your item, tick Sold items under Search including and press Search. You’ll see real prices, not the fake bargains on Marketplace. No more undercutting yourself.

  • Siri’s billion-dollar brain donor: Apple did what every proud parent swears they’d never do: asked Google for help. They’re reportedly paying a billion dollars a year to plug Gemini AI into Siri. Yep, $1 billion to stop saying, “I didn’t quite catch that.” Supposedly, she’ll get better at summarizing, planning and pretending to care what you said. Update hits next spring.

  • Farewell, farm classic: This is sad. After 208 years, the Farmers’ Almanac is calling it quits. The 2026 issue will be its last, and the site goes down next month. The Maine-based guide says the money isn’t there anymore. It’s been predicting the weather with “a secret formula” involving sunspots and moon cycles, but it couldn’t foresee this storm.

  • The prank economy: OK, there’s this new site called Dare Market that pays people in crypto to do pranks. Film yourself doing something ridiculous, and if the crowd likes it, you get Solana. If not, congrats, you humiliated yourself for free. It’s raised $2 million already. They swear no one’s getting hurt, but I’ve heard that before.

  • Waymo hits the gas: Live in San Diego, Las Vegas or Detroit? Congrats, you’re getting Waymos soon. They’re currently in the San Francisco Bay Area, LA, Phoenix, Austin and Atlanta. Waymo’s “rapidly scaling,” which sounds exciting until you remember these cars don’t blink. Oh, and it’s also adding new Zeekr RT vehicles (from China), pending the regulatory green light. Rough update for Uber drivers, great news for “please don’t talk to me” passengers.

  • Crypto with ketchup: Hungry? Steak ’n Shake is handing out $5 in Bitcoin (at 400 participating locations) with every Bitcoin Meal. You get steps on how to redeem your Bitcoin with your meal. They also brand your (burger) bun with a ₿. This is real. Finally, my portfolio and cholesterol can rise together.

My Must-See Video Of The Week!

People are correct, you just can’t not watch a train wreck.  Sadly, for an Austin, TX high school band visiting San Antonio last week, the 18-wheeler carrying all their equipment stalled on a railroad track.  The locomotive tried to stop, but this under one-minute video doesn’t have a happy ending.

Closing Message: A Very Special Email

Screen Shot 2025-10-02 at 12.33.43 PMEvery so often, I get a message that reminds me why I’ve stayed behind a microphone all these years. It’s easy to think this job is about cars — the specs, the reviews, the rebates, the test drives. But then an email like this one lands in my inbox and brings me to a stop.

"Thank you for your program and all the information you provide. My brother, Mike Schmitt, was a regular listener, in fact your program was part of our Saturday activity. My brother passed on Monday after a long battle against liver cancer, which had metastasized to his vertebrae after his liver transplant. This past Saturday, he was present enough that he chose for us to listen to your show. It was the last thing we listened to together while he was still alert. He'd spent since mid-September in hospitals, and since the 2nd week of October in the MICU at UTSW (the best medical personnel and facility we've ever been to, they don't have an easy calling, but perform it with compassion and grace). Both Mike and I have called in or emailed you for advice, which was always sound. Thank you for providing, unbeknownst to you, one last good memory of an activity we enjoyed doing together. I'll continue to listen and tell friends about your show. Thank you. "

Kind regards,
Mary

That took my breath away. I never met Mike or Mary, but I could feel the bond they shared — the way something as simple as a radio show about cars became part of their family rhythm. To think that what I do could be woven into someone’s final memory with a loved one…that’s humbling beyond words.

When I was inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame recently, that honor made me think about the fact that radio isn’t really about transmitters or studios or even the voice on the air. It’s about connection. It’s about a shared laugh, a little advice, a familiar voice on a Saturday morning that makes someone’s day feel just a bit more normal.  The other 19 inductees would say the same thing, I am certain of it.

Mary’s email reminded me that you never know what’s going on in the life of the person listening — or how much something small can mean. Maybe that’s what makes this medium so special. You don’t have to see people to reach them. You just have to care.

As we head into Thanksgiving and Christmas, I’ll be thinking about Mike and Mary, and about all the listeners who’ve let me into their homes, cars, and lives for so many years. I’m grateful beyond measure for that privilege.

We talk about cars every week, but what we’re really talking about is life — and the roads we all travel together.

Kim Komando Answer:

B) Digitize old books. Yep, turns out those squiggly word CAPTCHAs were part of a secret mission called reCAPTCHA, where Google used your eyeballs to help turn dusty scanned pages into searchable digital archives. So be proud, I guess.

Fun fact: reCAPTCHA helped digitize the entire archive of The New York Times. That’s over 150 years of news, headlines and hot takes before Twitter.

Maybe it’s me, but if robots can’t identify stop signs or traffic lights in CAPTCHA images, maybe self-driving cars are a bad idea.
