Dear CarPro Family,

Surprise!  Yes, we are in your inbox early because I know most of you are going to be off on Friday.  A couple of things you need to know:  First, WE ARE LIVE inside your radio Saturday to help last minute car buyers take advantage of incentives that were extended, and the hard deadline to beat vehicle prices rising due to the tariffs.  Yes, higher prices are coming and the only way to avoid it is to do something by Monday night.  More on that in our lead story below.  Second, this is an abbreviated edition since we didn’t have the full week to work on it due to July 4th.

Here’s the BIG ONE!  The J.D. Power Initial Quality survey results!  These are the ones automakers live and die by.  I have to say, there were some real surprises this year. It is a moving target that is hard to hit.  Many have asked me for a dash cam recommendation, and I really don’t have one, but my friend Kim Komando checked them out!  When it comes to tech, she is your gal, and the report is below.

As we always do as we celebrate another birthday of our great nation, we have some very insightful quotes below from our founding fathers.  It amazes me the foresight these people had.  Also, our reminder about pets and fireworks, it is hard on your fur babies. A record number of people will travel for this holiday and AAA has all the info for you below, including the best times to travel by car!

Texans, the days of seeing paper temporary license plates are GONE.  How will this affect car buyers and dealerships?  I’ve deciphered all the info from multiple sources and put it into a condensed version for you below.

In car reviews, I officially have two 3-row SUVs to bring you, but as you’ll see, only one of them is a 3-row in reality.  I have the 2025 VW Atlas Peak Edition, and I also have for you the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander SEL, one of the better SUV values out there today.  Amy Plemons brings you a great review of the 2025 Mazda CX-5 Turbo Signature.

The rest of your normal features will be back next week, but don’t fret!  Todd and I have our videos of the week for you below because we know you love those, and you’ll also find your recalls as usual.

If you haven’t perused my FAQ page, please do.  There are likely multiple articles you can use, every one of them written by me. Miss a radio show?  Below we tell you how to get the podcast, and if you missed a newsletter, we tell you how to find the archive page where you can see the last 10 editions.  The incentives have gone up lately, but our Incentive Guide is always 100% up to date.

rundown-july-1-2025

We very much appreciate you being part of the newsletter family.  Without you, there is no Car Pro Show.  Let us know how we can help you, and if you haven’t been to our website lately, check it out at CarPro.com. It changes daily.

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

Take A Minute: Independence Day Quotes

u-s-flag-constitution-founding-fathers-shutterstock

Just my humble opinion, but many of our youth today do not realize the true meaning of the 4th of July.  It is, after all, our Independence Day.   Holidays are always fun and a great time to get together with family and friends, but freedom isn’t free, and never will be.  Men and women of America have laid down their lives so we could enjoy living in the greatest nation on earth.

I hope you’ll pause, give thanks, and remember those who died before us, and are still dying today, to preserve these United States of America.  Click the link below for some thoughts from our founding fathers and others.  I hope you enjoy.

LAST CALL! Big July 4th Sales Through Monday

july-4th-live-2

As always, car dealers view holidays as a time when they go into volume mode. July 4th is a rare opportunity for them to start a new month on a high note.  Even as weird as this year is shaping up to be, it is still a holiday and it’s bargain time for you.

There is further urgency for car buyers who missed the end of month and end of quarter on June 30th.  The great incentives across the board were largely extended through Monday, July 7th.  However, I look for a dip down in incentives and we already know upward pricing adjustments are going to happen, due to the tariffs.

Dealers will be very aggressive this week on trade values because the used market continues to rise, and they won’t miss any business.  They are concerned about the effect of the tariffs and lower incentives, and I can tell you from my many years owning dealerships, you push for NOW.  Dealers cannot control incentives or tariffs, so to coin a phrase, they want to “get while the getting’ is good.”

If you were thinking of a new vehicle this year, or you want to take advantage of Tax Code 179, I can tell you with 100% confidence, vehicle prices will indeed be higher starting next Tuesday.

Go directly to any of our terrific dealer partners by clicking on BUY A CAR, then CERTIFIED CAR PROS.  Click the brand in which you are interested, put in your zip and the closest dealer will come up along with my contact person.  Be sure to speak to them.  If you email them, your VIP Certificate will come right back to you.  Print it and take it with you!

If you’ve put buying off for one reason or another, take the leap now.

No More Paper Dealer License Plates in Texas

new-tags-tx-newsletter-graphic

As I told you on the air Saturday, a new law goes into effect in Texas TODAY. Starting July 1, dealer-issued paper license plate tags are no more. Permanent metal plates will take their place. I expect the first few weeks could be a little rough as dealers work out the kinks of the new system, but hopefully things will smooth out quickly. So, why the change and how will it impact car shoppers? I'll tell you below:

My Must-See Video Of The Week!

Well, I’ll be darned!  Here’s a rare occurrence!  A guy running from the Los Angeles Police that actually gets away!  In this 2-minute or so video, a guy in a Rolls-Royce of all things is running from LAPD, and while these cars are super-nice, I wouldn’t say they were nimble.  Still, this guy gives them the slip and you can see how he does it here:

  Todd's Video of the Week!

THIS is why these guys and gals wear safety harnesses when they are up in the air in a bucket truck. All this repairman could do was hold on as he saw a big rig headed his way while working on a traffic signal. This happened in Denham Springs, LA. He only suffered minor injuries - but will likely be starring in a new training video soon.
