February 6, 2026

Dear Car Pro family,

I hope your February is off to a great start! Today, we have a very informative newsletter for you, so don’t skim through too fast, you might miss something important. I’ve had so many compliments on my closing messages lately, and I thank you for that very sincerely. Today, I wrote one titled What Experience Teaches You To Ignore. I hope you enjoy it, I put a lot of thought into it.

January sales are in from automakers who report monthly and I have a recap and the tally of how the car companies did versus January of 2025. I’ve got the top-sellers for all 2025 for you today broken into segments. Which car companies are advertising during the Big Game this Sunday? The answer might surprise you! Anytime you see the President’s motorcade, you’ll always see black Chevy Suburbans, but that is about to change, I have that story for you. I also point out some very alarming trends in the world of financing automobiles. Is the end coming for Tesla? Two of their models have now been killed off.

DON’T MISS Kim Komando’s Fun Quiz and other interesting tech tips of the week, answer to the quiz is at the very bottom of this newsletter, under my closing message. I have a whole new batch of quirky and funny Quick Shift stories for you, and don’t forget to go shopping in the Car Pro Merch shop, lots of good stuff there. In advice today, I give you advice on Knowing Your Rights If Your Car Is Involved In A Wreck. Insurance companies will run all over you if you let them, so know what they can and cannot do.

In car reviews, I have for you a really cool entry into compact hatchbacks with the first ever 2026 Kia K4 GT-Line Turbo. I’ve had the sedan, but now you can get it in a hot hatch! Amy Plemons brings you a review of the 2025 Audi A6 e-tron Sportback Quattro.

If you haven’t perused my FAQ page, please do. There are a LOT of new advice articles there written by me. You'll see them marked as NEW!  All of our other regular features are below including the Classic Car Contest, our radio station listings, how to call the show to talk directly to me, and much, much, more.

We very much appreciate you being part of the newsletter family.  Without you, there is no Car Pro Show.  Let us know how we can help you, and if you haven’t been to our website lately, check it out at CarPro.com. It changes daily.

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

Kim Komando Quiz and Interesting Info

new-kim-kommando-graphi

Besides the Car Pro Show and our weekly newsletter, my other favorite radio show and newsletter is Kim Komando’s.  We are on many of the same radio stations across America.  She does for her listeners and newsletter subscribers exactly what I endeavor to do:  Give you useful information to keep you up to date on the latest in cars, only she does it with technology and there is nobody who does it better.  Not sure how she puts out a top-notch newsletter seven days a week, but she does.

💡Kim’s Quiz:

Hello and come with me to Green Bank, West Virginia, the only place in America where your phone is legally useless. No cell signals. No Wi-Fi. No Bluetooth. Nothing wireless works in this 13,000-square-mile zone, and if you try to bring any kind of wireless device, they'll confiscate it.

❓ Can you guess why? A) Religious reasons, B) To protect a radio telescope, C) A failed tech experiment or D) A rich guy bought the entire town.

*Answer below my closing message at the very bottom of this newsletter

Some Interesting Items I Found In Kim’s Daily Newsletter!

  • Buyback bandit: This is wild. A Kansas City guy allegedly sold cars on Facebook Marketplace, then stole them back and sold them again. Eight victims in about two months. He used the same trick every time: fake accounts, forged titles, clean-looking bills of sale. Two cars, a 2013 Honda Civic and a 2013 Buick Verano, got passed around like a bad-luck casserole. Allegedly $24,000 richer, the man is now staring at charges that could add up to 98 years. On the bright side, he won’t need a car where he’s going.

  • Nest goes offline: Go check your thermostat. Google ended software support for the 1st- and 2nd-gen Nest Learning Thermostats, the 14-year-old originals. They’ll still cool and heat your house, but app control is gone, which was the whole point. No more cranking the heat before driving home. Google says the old hardware is too hard to keep updating, so they’re leaving it out in the cold.

  • Would you pay for Facebook? Meta’s about to test paid monthly subscriptions across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. The paid tier unlocks extra control and more AI stuff. It’s probably talking about Manus, the AI agent it bought for $2B. Instagram leaks also mention stealth Story viewing and the feature I think everyone’s petty internal voice wants, the list of who didn’t follow you back. I guess that matters to some people, not me.

  • 3-second tech genius: Your phone has a dirty little secret. When Wi-Fi’s weak, it switches to cellular behind your back and torches your data plan. Kill the habit. Team Android, swipe down and disable Mobile data. Team iPhone, open Control Center > Cellular Data.

  • Why pay for two Prime memberships when one does the job? Here’s how to split the perks with someone you live with. Go to Account & Lists > Account > Your Amazon Family, or click here to set it up. They get free shipping, streaming, everything. You look generous. Everybody wins.

  • The internet forgets everything. Wayback Machine remembers it all. This nonprofit has saved 900+ billion web pages since 1996. See any website exactly how it looked in 2005, 2010, 2020. But here's what nobody uses: hit "Save Page Now" and you can archive any page yourself instantly. Evidence for lawsuits. Deleted articles. Your competitor's old pricing. Dead websites. Here’s my 2003 website. Funny, I kinda have the same hair style. I hope that’s a good thing.

Jerry's Must-Watch Video of the Week!

A fuel leak on a car sitting high atop a lift in a service department ignites a fire that the technician tries to put out himself. Did he do it right or wrong? There is a very entertaining fire fighter that gives you a blow-by-blow account of the action in this 2-minute video. Get some marshmallows and join in, while being thankful this isn’t your car.

  Todd's Video of the Week!

This week’s Todd’s Video of the Week is one everyone should see at least once. It walks you through exactly what to do if your car ever ends up in the water—step by step, clearly and calmly. In a moment where panic can take over, knowing the right moves can save your life. Take a few moments to watch it now… before you ever need it.

What Experience Teaches You To Ignore

One of the quiet benefits of experience is that it teaches you what not to pay attention to. That may not sound like much, but in a world that never stops shouting, it’s a valuable skill.

When you’re new to something — whether it’s buying cars, starting a job, or just figuring out your way — everything feels important. Every opinion carries weight. Every headline sounds urgent. Every “limited-time offer” feels like it might actually be limited. Over time, though, you learn that not all noise deserves your energy.

The car business is especially good at creating noise. Flashing ads. Big promises. Countdown clocks. Buzzwords that change every few years but somehow always mean the same thing. The industry has never lacked for excitement, but experience teaches you to separate excitement from substance.

I’ve watched people get worked up over things that don’t matter much in the long run — the badge on the hood, what the neighbors might think, whether a coworker got a better deal last month. And I’ve seen people ignore the things that do matter — comfort, reliability, honesty, and whether the car actually fits their daily life.

Experience teaches you to ignore pressure. Real decisions don’t need to be rushed. A good deal doesn’t evaporate the moment you step outside. A trustworthy seller doesn’t need to manufacture urgency. If someone is pushing hard, that’s usually a sign to slow down, not speed up.

It also teaches you to ignore trends that don’t align with your reality. Not every new technology is right for every driver. Not every feature makes life better. Just because something is popular doesn’t mean it belongs in your driveway. Experience brings the confidence to say, “That’s fine for someone else, but it’s not for me.”

Another thing experience teaches you to ignore is embarrassment. People worry too much about asking the “wrong” question or admitting they don’t understand something. The truth is, the smartest buyers are usually the ones who ask the most basic questions. They’re not trying to impress anyone. They’re trying to get it right.

And perhaps most importantly, experience teaches you to ignore the idea that there’s one perfect answer. There isn’t. There’s only the right answer for you, right now. The right car. The right timing. The right budget. Chasing perfection is exhausting. Making a solid, informed decision is liberating.

I didn’t learn these things overnight. They came from years of watching people make choices they were proud of — and some they regretted. They came from listening more than talking. From seeing patterns repeat themselves. And from understanding that peace of mind usually shows up when you stop chasing everything and start focusing on what matters.

As you move through this year, whether you’re shopping for a car or just making everyday decisions, my hope for you is simple: learn what to tune out. Ignore the noise that doesn’t serve you. Ignore the pressure that doesn’t respect you. Ignore the voices that don’t know your situation nearly as well as you do.

Experience doesn’t make you smarter than everyone else. It just makes you calmer. And calm decisions are almost always better ones.

If the Car Pro Show helps in any small way by cutting through the clutter and pointing out what’s worth your attention — and what isn’t — then we’re doing exactly what we set out to do.

Sometimes the best advice isn’t about what to chase. It’s about what to ignore.

Straight Talk and Honest Answers — always.

 💡Kim Komando Answer:

B) To protect a massive radio telescope. Green Bank, West Virginia, is home to one of the world’s largest and most sensitive radio telescopes, and even your Bluetooth earbuds throw off its research. So no Wi-Fi, no cell towers and definitely no OpenAI data centers.

The telescope is so finely tuned it can detect radio waves emitted from galaxies billions of light-years away. How about the locals? They use wired landlines and drive miles to get a signal. It’s basically 1994 but with fewer frosted tips.
