happythanksgiving-2025-November 24, 2025

Dear Car Pro Family,

Welcome to this early Thanksgiving edition of the Car Pro Newsletter.  It is abbreviated, but still has a good amount of information for you!  Please go to the end for my special Thanksgiving message to our faithful listeners and subscribers.

We start with prayers for our Military, First Responders, and medical folks whom we appreciate so much and are very thankful for.  It is Black Friday weekend and our dealers are in “mega-sale mode.” You can read below why you will be able to grab a bargain, especially with high year-end incentives across the board.  These are the best we’ve seen since 2020 and there are a LOT of reasons why this Friday throughScreen Shot 2024-11-25 at 9.32.47 PM the following Monday could be the busiest four days of 2025 for the car dealers.  YES, of course we are LIVE ON THE AIR for the Car Pro Show Saturday because it is such a huge car-buying weekend.

If you missed the big reveal Saturday of the first ever Car Pro Song, The 12 Days of Car Pro Christmas, no worries, I have it for you below in its entirety.  If you have Car Gals or Car Guys in your circle of friends and family, feel free to send them the link.  I hope you enjoy it, it was a fun project. Also below, you’ll want to find out what AAA is forecasting for travel over the turkey day holiday!

giftguide-2Our annual Car Pro Gift Guide is here today!  Don’t miss that!  My advice column will likely help a whole bunch of you this week.  It is titled:  Is a hybrid right for you?  I talk about hybrids every single week on the Car Pro Show and I think this article will be helpful if you are on the fence.

If you are self-employed or own a business of any size, you can buy a new vehicle and write the entire amount off on your taxes THIS YEAR.  Yes, all of it for 2025.  If you even think you might have to write a check next April 15, 2026, time is running out. My dealers need some notice to make sure they have or can get the vehicle you want.  Even if you don’t own a business, there are other write-offs for many folks.  We’ve got it all for you!

Since the holidays are now officially here, we have an article about being careful at the mall, especially if you venture out Black Friday.  Are you getting your Christmas tree this week?  Another article tells you how to transport it home safely, and in yet another article we discuss transporting food safely.  Speaking of food, Kevin’s Famous Recipes are here again, go ahead and start today on the mashed potatoes, you won’t regret it.

I have my review of the 2026 Toyota Crown Nightshade AND the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox RS All-Electric SUV.  Our Amy Plemons was not able to do a review this week due to almost back-to-back newsletters and the terrific Car Pro Holiday Gift Guide you’ll find below.

If you have never read my True Stories from a Former Car Dealer series, may I suggest you do so.  People have loved this for a lot of years now.  You’ll learn more about me than you probably want to know, you’ll roar with laughter at some, and you’ll likely get a tear in your eyes on others.  They are all right here, 40 of them, carefully written by yours truly.

If you haven’t perused my FAQ page, please do.  There are likely multiple articles you can use, every one of them written by me.

All of our other regular features are below including the Classic Car Contest, our radio station listings, how to connect with us on Facebook and call the show to talk directly to me, and much, much, more.

We very much appreciate you being part of the newsletter family.  Without you, there is no Car Pro Show.  Let us know how we can help you, and if you haven’t been to our website lately, check it out at CarPro.com. It changes daily.

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

Thursday some will gather around the dinner table with family and friends to share good food, warm laughter, and the happy memories of Thanksgivings past. For many families whose loved ones serve in the Armed Forces, this year’s Thanksgiving celebration will not be complete. A familiar voice will not be heard and a chair at the table will remain empty because they have someone far from home serving our country. There will also be empty seat for other Heroes - our police, firefighters, paramedics and medical personnel - who are on call and working this holiday and will be missed by their families.

HUGE Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Month-End Sales

black-fridayWhile shopping on Black Friday can be a stressful, tiring, and a downright frightening thing to do at the mall, new vehicle consumers will find some great deals on one of the biggest purchases they'll ever make: a new car.

This weekend, we have significant sale days back-to-back:  Black Friday, the last weekend of November, and then Cyber Monday which is ALSO the last day of the huge incentives and a key day for car dealers to report their sales to the automakers.

I recall from my days owning dealerships, we geared up for Black Friday and the weekend after.  In the car business, when a lot of people are off work, you tend to be really busy.  We also saw that while one spouse was at the mall, the other might be shopping for a car, trying to narrow down their choices and looking at numbers.

The incentives for November are ending on Monday, December 1st and as I talked about on the show, we saw significant increases from all automakers through the month.  There is no doubt, the year-end push is ON.

Dealerships typically offer huge discounts on Black Friday, even if it is on a vehicle that is coming in.  It's an atypical day to purchase a car since consumers think of retail shopping but buying a new vehicle on Black Friday can often lead to nice savings.  Many dealers do one-day-only pricing on this Friday and some start early, around 7 AM.

Most dealer lots are full right now, with lots of vehicles on the way, but be aware that if you have a specific vehicle you are looking for, communicate with a Car Pro friend at one of our Certified dealerships at my website, just click FIND A CERTIFIED CAR PRO DEALER NEAR ME.  The exact vehicle you are looking for could be on a convoy truck headed there right now.

BOTTOM LINE:  Without a doubt, this is the best time to buy since before Covid started, and I sincerely mean that.

It's Time! Kevin's Famous Holiday Recipes!

Screen Shot 2025-11-13 at 3.17.13 PMThanksgiving is this week, so it's time to share Kevin’s famous holiday recipes like we have done for well over a decade.

If you have started listening to the Car Pro Show in the last 15 months, you might not know that Kevin McCarthy was my on-air Trusty Sidekick for 23 years before retiring.  He had a legendary career as a talk radio show host and was a first year inductee into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame.

Back from the days when Kevin had a Monday through Friday show, he had three recipes he gave out every holiday season and still to this day gets many requests for them.

There are the famous Make Ahead Mashed Potatoes, David Wade’s “turkey in a bag” and last, but not least, David Wade’s Rock Salt Prime Rib! Bon appĂŠtit!  Trust me on this, the mashed potatoes are the bomb!

  First-Ever Car Pro Christmas Song!

12-DAYs

As I told you on the air last Saturday, this is not something I had planned on, or ever thought would happen, but as they say, here we are!  I’ve always had a bit of a flare for writing, so I decided I’d write a poem based on the 12 Days of Christmas since everyone knows that song. A week or so ago, during the Car Pro Show, Todd and I got to talking about my poem and he said, “are you going to make a song out of it?”

That got the wheels turning in my head and I went to work. Not being a producer, I had to drag Todd into it to help me and I’m pretty sure he lost a full day of his life trying to make me happy.

🎶 🎄 Feel free to share this song in its entirety with anyone you think might enjoy it!  Click on the arrow below:Jerry-song-4

The song features these 12 familiar automotive-themed days:

  • Day 1:  Lexus December to Remember
  • Day 2:  Happy Honda Days
  • Day 3:  Toyota’s Toyotathon
  • Day 4:  Subaru’s Share the Love event
  • Day 5:  Stellantis’ Big Finish Event
  • Day 6:  Acura’s Season of Performance event
  • Day 7:  The Seasons of Audi event

How To Get Your Christmas Tree Home Safely

aaa-christmas-tree-transport-2019-creditFor a lot of folks, bringing home the Christmas tree is the real kickoff to the season. It’s a great tradition, but every December I see far too many trees hanging halfway off a roof, tied on with what looks like dental floss, or stuffed into a vehicle that’s three sizes too small.

 Thanksgiving Message From Jerry Reynolds

jerry-thankful

Thanksgiving has a way of sneaking up on you. One minute you’re talking about summer road trips and the next thing you know, you’re hunting for the good carving knife and wondering why cranberry sauce still comes out shaped like a can. But that’s the charm of this week: it slows us down just enough to take inventory of the things that really matter. I don’t mean the big, dramatic moments—we all remember those. I’m talking about the tiny mercies and quiet blessings that stack up in ways we barely notice until a holiday gives us a reason to look up and take our personal inventory.

This year has been one of those years that reminds me how fast life moves. The car business certainly hasn’t sat still. We’ve watched the EV market settle down, heat up, cool off, and get reshuffled again—sometimes all in the same quarter. Automakers spent most of the year trying to figure out where the sweet spot is between gas, hybrid, and electric, and I suspect we’ll still be having that conversation this time next year. But at least 2025 doesn’t feel like the chaos of years past. Lots are full again. Incentives are back. And for the most part, dealers and customers are talking instead of staring at empty spaces where cars should have been. After the last few years, that alone feels like something worth appreciating.

On a personal note, this year offered a few reminders of its own. My induction into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame still feels a little unreal. It’s the kind of honor you don’t see coming when you’re just trying to do a good show every week and help people make smarter decisions about their cars. But it also made me think about all the hands and hearts that helped me get there—listeners, friends, our Car Pro team, our dealers, and so many folks I’ve met along the way. Gratitude doesn’t even begin to cover it.

And then there are the moments that stop you cold, like the email I shared recently from a listener whose brother’s last alert moments were spent listening to our show together. I’ve tried to put words to that feeling, and I’m not sure I ever will. It humbled me. It reminded me that sometimes we reach people in ways we never know about, and sometimes this job ends up touching lives far beyond car advice. If that doesn’t make you pause and count your blessings, nothing will.

Of course, while many of us will sit down Thursday to a warm meal, a laugh or two, and maybe a football game that will test our patience, not everyone gets that luxury. There are service members scattered across the globe who would give anything to be home at a crowded table with the noise of family buzzing around them. There are families missing someone in uniform. And here at home, while we’re debating whether the gravy needs more salt, police officers, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and medical teams will be answering calls, handling emergencies, and doing the kind of work that doesn’t get holidays off. If you know someone in those fields, take a minute to let them know their country is grateful. It matters more than you think.

So, while you’re enjoying your Thanksgiving, look around. Not at what’s missing—there’s always something missing—but at what’s still here. Call that friend you’ve been meaning to call. Check on a neighbor. Patch up a disagreement that’s gone on too long. Donate a little if you can. Say “thank you” out loud instead of assuming people know. Life is shorter and more fragile than we like to admit, and the past few years have proven that over and over again.

Finally, I want to thank you—our listeners, our affiliates, our team, and our dealer partners. You make The Car Pro Show possible, and you’ve given me a second career I’m grateful for every single day.

Enjoy Thanksgiving. Be safe. Don’t drink and drive, don’t text and drive, and count your blessings—because I promise, there are more than you think.
