Dear Car Pro Family,

This Sunday, we remember and pay tribute to our mothers. I hope yours is still with you, but if not, I am confident you have wonderful memories to cling to. We start today with our Tribute to Moms and a must-see video. Feel free to share with anyone who might enjoy it. I also have April sales from the automakers that still report sales monthly, and overall, the news was not good. I give you some market analysis with those numbers as well.

In must-read articles today, don’t miss Food Stamps & Ferraris.. You’ve probably seen on the news people buying groceries with SNAP benefits and leaving in a luxury car. What if there is more to their story? Maybe I’m turning into a softy. Do you keep all your receipts when you rent a car? You better and I tell you why below. In my advice column, I pursue the question: Are tire repair kits a real substitute for a spare? And don’t miss my closing message titled: Why I Still Believe In Handshakes.

True Story #12 is at the bottom of this publication, and it is called Hawaii. I was young and I walked away from a General Manager’s job and had to start all over on the sales floor of a strange dealership. It was much like my closing message last week. For this week’s car reviews, I have the hot 2026 Dodge Charger with 420 gasoline-powered horses. I also spent time with the 2026 Audi Q3 S Line, a beauty of a compact luxury SUV. Amy Plemons brings you a full review of the 2026 Toyota Crown Signia Limited. I’ve got some great stories for this week’s Quick Shifts, and Suits & Settlements-my legal roundup feature, don’t miss those. We welcome KXVB Freedom 101.5 FM in Fayetteville, Arkansas carrying the entire 11 AM to 2 PM show live!

We’ve got another quiz from Kim Komando and some really cool tech tips. If you aren’t used to looking at her section, give it a try, there are some real gems there. If you haven’t perused my FAQ page, please do. There are likely multiple articles you can use, every one of them written by me.

All of our other regular features are below including the Classic Car Contest, the radio stations we are on, how to call the show to talk directly to me, and much, much more.

We very much appreciate you being part of the newsletter family.  Without you, there is no Car Pro Show.  Let us know how we can help you, and if you haven’t been to our website lately, check it out at CarPro.com. It changes daily.

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

Sell Or Consign Your Car For Top Dollar!

SELL-YOUR-CAR-

I hear from a lot of people who end up with an extra car for some reason. Sometimes it is due to a death in the family, or someone gets transferred overseas. I’ve seen many occasions where this happens. Well, now, we have two ways to dispose of a vehicle.

ThisCar has been with us for quite some time. They are terrific buyers and make the transactions very easy. They have helped many of our listeners and I’ve had terrific feedback. They are great, too, if you need a good idea what your car is truly worth and as I always say, a car is only worth what someone is willing to write a check for it. ThisCar writes checks, and lots of them.

Now, if you have more time, RetailMyRide.com is now an official partner of the Car Pro Show and they take cars on consignment. You’ve heard me recommend them in the past most likely, and they have helped many of our listeners. They market the car at all the right places, they get top dollar for it, take a little off the top, and you get the rest. It’s that simple. No people coming to your house, calling or texting, no worrying about how to complete the paperwork, they do all that for you.

So, the question is: Do you want quick cash or the most cash? We’ve got you covered either way with CarPro AppraisalPro OR CarPro ConsignPro.

It all starts at CarPro.com, click SELL A CAR at the top, or click here →

Kim Komando Quiz and Interesting Info

new-kim-kommando-graphi

Besides the Car Pro Show and our weekly newsletter, my other favorite radio show and newsletter is Kim Komando’s.  We are on many of the same radio stations across America.  She does for her listeners and newsletter subscribers exactly what I endeavor to do:  Give you useful information to keep you up to date on the latest in cars, only she does it with technology and there is nobody who does it better.  Not sure how she puts out a top-notch newsletter seven days a week, but she does.

I recommend you subscribe to Kim’s daily newsletter. I learn something new every single day, and it’s free! Subscribe here

💡Kim’s Quiz:

The most-watched video in YouTube history isn’t a moon landing, a big game or a Taylor Swift drop. It’s a shark jingle uploaded by a South Korean education company in 2016 with zero marketing budget and absolutely zero shame.

“Baby Shark’s” melody is so simple it rewires your brain on first listen. (You’re humming it now. I’m sorry.) How many YouTube views has “Baby Shark” accumulated? A) 4 billion, B) 8 billion, C) 17 billion, D) 40 billion.

  Exclusive Approved Products & Services

In my over 20 years on the radio, I can count the number of products I have endorsed on one hand. I have had many opportunities, but after much due diligence, I usually end up saying no.

I won't recommend a product or service unless I have tried it myself and feel good about recommending it. It is the same with the car dealers on the radio show and website.

Here are companies I wholeheartedly endorse and personally use:

Jerry's Must-Watch Video of the Week!

Get your popcorn ready and sit back to watch two and a half minutes of people in Utah crash their cars, all shot from traffic cameras at intersections. How much you want to bet that the majority of these people were looking at their phones? What I found interesting was how well the majority of these cars held up, especially the ones that were broadsided. I don’t think I’ll be vacationing in Utah any time soon!

100+MPH Chase Ends In Rollover Crash

The incident (March 3rd 2026) involved a suspect vehicle fleeing from police before crashing near Centralia, Washington. Two people were injured in the rollover.   True Stories From A Former Car Dealer

hawaii-

This is #12 in a series of 40 stories written by me about occurrences from my days in the car business. Each story had a lasting impression on me for some reason or another. Some because they were funny, some because they were sad, and some were just strange. But whatever the case, over the next 27 weeks, we’ll feature one of them, in order for you to enjoy.

hawaiiandthewinnerIf you read my closing message last week titled Give Me A Pen & A Good Dealership, this True Story goes right along with that. I started over at a new dealership selling cars on the sales floor after being a General Manager. I was a young ‘un, too. I had no savings, no insurance, and a pregnant wife. I came in after the rest of the dealership had a two week head start on a really nice trip to Hawaii. Everybody told me I had no chance to win. I thought otherwise.

  Closing Message From Jerry

🤝

Why I Still Believe In Handshakes

I know how this is going to sound.

Old school. Outdated. Maybe even a little naïve.

But I still believe in a handshake.

Now before you roll your eyes and say, “Jerry, everything’s digital now,” let me be clear—I get it. I’ve watched this business change more than most. Deals done over text. Credit apps on a phone. E-contracts signed without ever touching a piece of paper. Cars delivered to your driveway without you ever setting foot in a showroom.

In a lot of ways, it’s better. Faster. More convenient. Less time sitting in a chair waiting on someone to “go talk to the manager.”

I’m not against any of that.

But I do think we’ve lost something along the way.

Back when I was on the showroom floor, a handshake wasn’t just a greeting. It meant something. When you shook someone’s hand and gave your word, that was the deal. No backing out because you found something $200 cheaper across town. No changing the terms because you thought of something later. And on the dealer side, no surprises in the finance office, no games, no “oh by the way” fees that magically appeared at the last minute.

A handshake meant: we’re good.

It wasn’t perfect. There were always people who didn’t honor it. But most did. And when they didn’t, word got around. Reputation mattered. Maybe more than anything else.

Today, we’ve replaced that handshake with screens and signatures. Legally binding? Absolutely. But something feels different.

It’s easier now to walk away. Easier to ghost someone. Easier to say one thing in a text and do another when it’s time to follow through. And it goes both ways—customers and dealers alike. Keyboard warriors make me crazy. Why do some people turn so tough when they are on the other end of a device?

Technology didn’t cause that. It just made it easier.

Because at the end of the day, this was never about paper or pens or even handshakes.

It’s about accountability.

It’s about looking someone in the eye—whether that’s across a desk or across a screen—and meaning what you say.

I’ve always believed that if you do the right thing, even when it costs you, it comes back around. Maybe not on that particular deal. Maybe not that week. But over time, it builds something you can’t fake.

Trust.

I saw it over and over again. Customers who came back year after year. Families who sent their kids to see me when it was time for their first car. People who shopped with me because they knew I was going to treat them right.

That didn’t come from being the cheapest.

It came from being consistent.

So yes, I still believe in a good, firm, handshake.

Not because I think we’re going back to the “good old days.” We’re not. This business—and this world—has changed too much.

But the principle behind it? That hasn’t changed at all.

All you have to do is do what you say you’re going to do.

Treat people the way you’d want to be treated.

Stand behind your word, even when it’s inconvenient, and even if it costs you money.

If you can do that, it doesn’t matter whether the deal is done with a handshake, a signature, or a click on a screen.

You’re going to be just fine.

And so are the people who do business with you.

Straight Talk and Honest Answers — always.

 💡Kim Komando Answer:

C) Almost 17 billion views, making it the most-watched video in YouTube history. You could say Baby Shark bit off more than anyone expected. Go ahead, watch it now to be annoyed for the rest of the day. What do a shark and a computer have in common? They both have megabites.

🦈 Speaking of sharks, you can track real great whites by name at ocearch.org/tracker. Going to Hawaii? Look here. Cue the Jaws theme.
