The 600-Horse 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee Is Back!

The Super Bee is back, and Dodge is giving the famous nameplate more sting than it has ever had.

Dodge has unveiled the 2027 Charger Super Bee Launch Edition, a limited-production model packing 600 horsepower and enough performance hardware to make it the quickest, fastest and most powerful SIXPACK-powered Charger yet. It also becomes the most powerful Dodge Super Bee ever produced.

According to Dodge, the new Super Bee arrives as part of the Charger’s 60th anniversary celebration and produces more than 100 additional horsepower compared with the previous-generation Super Bee. The Super Bee name originally joined the Dodge lineup in 1968 and first appeared on the Charger in 1971.

Under the hood is a specially developed high-output version of Dodge’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six SIXPACK engine. Larger 56-millimeter Garrett turbochargers, a unique engine calibration and upgraded cooling help increase output to an SAE-certified 600 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque.

Dodge says that works out to 200 horsepower per liter of displacement, which the company calls the highest specific horsepower output of any muscle car.Photo: Dodge.

Power runs through an eight-speed TorqueFlite 880RE automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is standard, but drivers can also select an on-demand mode that sends 100% of available torque to the rear wheels.

Performance numbers are appropriately serious. Dodge estimates the Charger Super Bee will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and cover the quarter-mile in 11.8 seconds.

But Dodge says the Super Bee was designed to be more than a straight-line machine.

Engineers substantially upgraded the Charger’s cooling capability to allow the car to maintain performance during repeated hard driving. Changes include auxiliary radiators, upgraded charge-air and transmission cooling, additional cooling ducts and revised airflow management. Dodge says total SIXPACK cooling capacity increases by more than 50%.

Stopping power gets a major upgrade, too. The Super Bee receives 16-inch vented Brembo brake rotors with six-piston fixed calipers in front and four-piston calipers at the rear.

Those brakes sit behind 20-by-11-inch forged wheels wrapped in 305/35ZR20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 summer tires at all four corners.

The suspension is also extensively reworked. The Super Bee receives new dual-valve adaptive dampers along with stiffer springs, bushings and rear stabilizer-bar tuning intended to improve steering response, body control and cornering capability.

Drivers will have access to dedicated Track and Drag modes, along with Launch Control, Torque Reserve and Race Prep functions. The latter helps cool the powertrain between runs. A rear-wheel-drive mode can also be activated for those occasions when 600 horsepower going exclusively to the back tires seems like the appropriate course of action.

Visually, the Launch Edition will be difficult to mistake for an ordinary Charger. Dodge will offer three exterior colors: the new Sucker Punch and Shady, plus Diamond Black. Depending on exterior color, cars receive gloss-black or Sucker Punch Super Bee “stinger” graphics, gloss-black wheels and Hyper Lime brake calipers.

Inside are cloth high-back performance seats with embroidered Super Bee logos, Sour Lemon accent stitching and a unique Super Bee instrument-panel badge. A redesigned Super Bee logo reflects the twin-turbo SIXPACK powertrain.

The 2027 Dodge Charger Super Bee Launch Edition will be built at Stellantis’ Windsor Assembly Plant in Ontario.

Dodge has not announced how many Launch Edition models it will build or what they will cost. Pricing, ordering information and availability will be announced later this year.

For Dodge enthusiasts who wondered whether the new SIXPACK Charger still had some surprises left in it, 600 horsepower suggests Dodge is not finished turning up the boost just yet.
