iSeeCars is sharing its list of the best and worst cars when it comes to recalls. Ford tops the list of most-recalled brands, while Mercedes-Benz enjoys the top spot as the brand with the least.
iSeeCars says Ford Motor Company recalled nearly 20 million vehicles over the past year. (Add to that, Ford just recalled nearly 1.4 million 2015-2017 F-150 pickups in a single recall this week.) Toyota is the brand with the second total number of recalls, with just over 4 million recalled vehicles. Ford and Toyota are among the highest-volume brands in the U.S., which iSeeCars notes contributes to both brands’ potential for recalls.
In the SeeCars analysis, Ford not only has the highest number of recalls from April 2025-March 2026, but also has 12 vehicles among the top 25 cars with the most projected recalls over their 30-year lifetime. On the flip side, Mercedes has 9 out of 10 spots for the models with the fewest lifetime projected recalls.
The automaker with the largest increase in total units recalled over the past year is Nissan. Data shows that in the first quarter of 2025 Nissan recalled just 1,629. This year it's recalled 669,197 in the same time period.
Overall, iSeeCars says across the industry, the number of cars affected by recalls is more than three times higher so far in 2026 than in 2025
Ford's luxury brand Lincoln has the highest projected recall rate of all models, followed by the Lincoln Corsair, Porsche Taycan, Ford Maverick, and Ford Bronco.
