Fastest-Selling New And Used Cars In September, 2021

Written by CarPro | Oct 19, 2021 6:45:00 PM

The Subaru Crosstrek takes the honors as the fastest-selling new vehicle in September 2021, according to the latest iSeeCars.com monthly sales analysis. It's followed by a consistent best-seller, the Chevrolet Corvette, while another Subaru, the Forester takes third place.

New vehicle production continues to be impacted by the microchip shortage which has been going on for months. It's reduced the number of new vehicles available on lots, and made used car prices skyrocket.

The latest iSeeCars.com analysis looks at over 900,000 new and used cars (model years 2016-2020 for used cars) sold in September 2021. Researchers found that both new and used cars sold faster in September than August. Overall, the average new car took 24.6 days to sell and the average used car took 32.8 days to sell last month. Compare that to August, when the average for new cars was 26 days to sell and the average for used cars was 34.6 days.

iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer shares some insight into Subaru's appearance in two of the top three spots:

“Subaru’s Japanese plant, where the Crosstrek and Forester are produced, was shut down from September 7th through September 22, leading to scarce inventory for these popular models,” said Brauer on the iSeeCars.com website.
