Most of us have the same reaction when we see a State Trooper cruiser in the rearview mirror: we immediately check the speedometer, say a short prayer, and hope the Trooper is looking for somebody else. This time, however, you are actually encouraged to look closely at State Trooper cruisers from across the country.

Yes, it's that time of year and voting is now underway in the American Association of State Trooper's 13th annual America’s Best-Looking Cruiser Calendar Contest!  See the entries and cast your vote through July 13th here:

Michigan, Georgia and Florida are the top three as of July 6th followed by Indiana, California, Texas, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Ohio, North Carolina, Louisiana, South Carolina and Maryland.

Georgia State Patrol.

The top 13 states receiving the most votes will be featured in the 2027 America’s Best Looking Trooper Cruisers wall calendar, and the cruiser with the most votes will land the coveted cover spot.

Voting began Monday, June 29, and continues through Monday, July 13, 2026, at noon Eastern time. Voting is being handled through SurveyMonkey, and AAST says each device gets one vote for the duration of the contest. Voters simply scroll through the state agency photos, pick their favorite cruiser from the drop-down menu at the bottom of the ballot, answer a simple captcha question, and submit the vote.

Texas Department of Public Safety.

This has become a fun annual competition among state police and highway patrol agencies, and it gives the public a chance to interact with law enforcement in a positive way. It is also one of those rare occasions when staring at a State Trooper cruiser is not only allowed, it is encouraged.

Florida is the defending champion and clearly the cruiser to beat. The Florida Highway Patrol won the 2025 contest and earned the cover of the 2026 calendar, giving Florida three straight wins. Texas is in the running this year as well, with the Texas Department of Public Safety entry photographed in front of the Alamo. California Highway Patrol is also among the agencies entered.

Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Highway Patrol.

The calendars will be available for preorder after the contest ends, and proceeds benefit the American Association of State Troopers Foundation, which provides educational scholarships to dependents of member troopers.

So, take a look at the entries, pick your favorite, and cast your vote. Just remember, if you see one of these cruisers in your mirror later, the proper response is still to slow down first and admire the paint scheme second.
