Here’s a lesson for would-be thieves:  Don’t use an electric car as a getaway vehicle.  This happened in Gwinnett County, Georgia near Atlanta.

According to [news reports,](https://www.businessinsider.com/thieves-use-tesla-as-getaway-caught-after-stopping-to-charge-2023-3) two alleged thieves were recently caught by police after stopping to charge their Tesla Model X getaway vehicle.   

The alleged theft [reportedly ](https://www.businessinsider.com/thieves-use-tesla-as-getaway-caught-after-stopping-to-charge-2023-3)occurred at a Sam's Club store. Witnesses at the scene told police the suspects had fled in a Model X.  Police broadcast a description of the vehicle and didn't have to go far to find them. Police found them at a Tesla Supercharger roughly 10 miles from the alleged scene of the crime.   

When arresting the suspects, police also reportedly found the vehicle packed with $8,000 worth of stolen merchandise including gaming systems and electric toothbrushes. They also found guns and marijuana. Gwinnett County Police shared pics on social media:

It's not clear if the Tesla belonged to one of the suspects or if it was stolen.
