March 27, 2026

Dear Car Pro family,

Here we are again. The final few days of the month, the first quarter, the end of Truck Month for another year, and the end of the fiscal year for many of the most popular car companies. I go into more detail in our lead story today! Get to a Car Pro dealer by Tuesday night, I don’t want you to get an April Fools' joke by going in Wednesday!

I had wonderful feedback on my new song Still Worth Fighting For after playing on last Saturday’s radio show. It is #6 and it is below, and in case you are new with us, I’ve also included the first five songs I did, and a little explanation of each. I hope you enjoy. Staying with the theme, my closing message today is also titled: Still Worth Fighting For. I hope you’ll take a minute and read it. Also below, I’ve written a lot about the cost of electric cars to the automakers. I’ve got a new tally. Hint: It has eleven zeros in it. I also give you an up-to-date report on the used car market right now and this will be great news if you have a trade-in.

True Story #6 is also at the bottom, and it is called Cannibis. Just a word to the wise: If you have weed in your car, remove it before you leave your car for service. In car reviews, I have the really fast and all-new gas-powered 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack coupe. I didn’t want this one to go back! Our Amy Plemons brings you a review of the all-electric 2026 Lexus RZ 550e F Sport. In advice, I tell you what to do if allergies are riding shotgun with you in your car! I’ve got some great stories for this week’s Quick Shifts, don’t miss those.

We’ve got another quiz from Kim Komando and some really cool tech tips. If you aren’t used to looking at her section, give it a try, there are some real gems there. If you haven’t perused my FAQ page, please do. There are likely multiple articles you can use, every one of them written by me.

All of our other regular features are below including the Classic Car Contest, the radio stations we are on, how to call the show to talk directly to me, and much, much more.

We very much appreciate you being part of the newsletter family.  Without you, there is no Car Pro Show.  Let us know how we can help you, and if you haven’t been to our website lately, check it out at CarPro.com. It changes daily.

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

End Of The Month, Quarter and Truck Month Is Now!

174429503-shutterstock-car-buying-shoppingWe are just a few days away from putting March and the first quarter of 2026 in the history books. It is the last weekend of the month and everything ends Tuesday, March 31st, including the best consumer incentives in years.

Here are some things to consider:

  • If you have a trade-in, you for sure want to take advantage of the current used car market, now is the time. Everything I read, all auction prices, and reports from listeners are saying to me regularly “I got more for my trade-in than I was expecting.” Always love hearing that.
  • Incentive spending by the automakers continues to rise. In many areas of the country, it is Truck Month and the incentives for trucks and SUVs are the best of the year. Even the automakers that don’t declare Truck Month add on incentives to be competitive.
  • All the Japanese automakers end their fiscal year on March 31st, including Honda, Toyota, Nissan, and Mazda. They always push hard at the end of the fiscal year AND add incentives.

Follow my proven process starting here, but make a move by Tuesday, just click BUY A CAR or on the link below:

The EV Experiment Tally:
Over $100 Billion Dollars And Climbing

Early last month, I reported to you that the Detroit 3 had combined losses of over 50 billion dollars in write-downs to get out of or to scale back on the electric car business in my article The Detroit 3 Should Have Listened.  Here’s what has become even clearer since I wrote about this in early February.

My New Song: Still Worth Fighting For

Copy of Copy of 2024-chevrolet-blazer-ev-credit-chevrolet (4)

I have been humbled by the outpouring from people about my songs. People ask me what’s next? I have no idea. It is hard to explain, but it just hits me. It could be a news story, something I’ve read, or a conversation with someone. It’s funny, I know it when it happens, like being knocked upside the head. There are now six of them, and for those new to the show or newsletter, you may have missed one, so I am including them here today. Remember, these are my gift to you, and you can share them with whomever you wish, but hopefully someone who appreciates them. You see, to me, sometimes people hear music clearer than the spoken word. On each song page, the lyrics are there as well if you want to follow along with the song. Here are all six, from the newest to the oldest.

Sell Or Consign Your Car For Top Dollar!

SELL-YOUR-CAR-

I hear from a lot of people who end up with an extra car for some reason. Sometimes it is due to a death in the family, or someone gets transferred overseas. I’ve seen many occasions where this happens. Well now, we have two ways to dispose of a vehicle.

ThisCar has been with us for quite some time. They are terrific buyers and make the transactions very easy. They have helped many of our listeners and I’ve had terrific feedback. They are great, too, if you need a good idea what your car is truly worth and as I always say, a car is only worth what someone is willing to write a check for it. ThisCar writes checks, and lots of them.

Now, if you have more time, RetailMyRide.com is now an official partner of the Car Pro Show and they take cars on consignment. You’ve heard me recommend them in the past most likely, and they have helped many of our listeners. They market the car at all the right places, they get top dollar for it, take a little off the top, and you get the rest. It’s that simple. No people coming to your house, calling or texting, no worrying about how to complete the paperwork, they do all that for you.

So, the question is: Do you want quick cash or the most cash? We’ve got you covered either way with CarPro AppraisalPro OR CarPro ConsignPro.

It all starts at CarPro.com, click SELL A CAR at the top, or click here →

Kim Komando Quiz and Interesting Info

new-kim-kommando-graphi

Besides the Car Pro Show and our weekly newsletter, my other favorite radio show and newsletter is Kim Komando’s.  We are on many of the same radio stations across America.  She does for her listeners and newsletter subscribers exactly what I endeavor to do:  Give you useful information to keep you up to date on the latest in cars, only she does it with technology and there is nobody who does it better.  Not sure how she puts out a top-notch newsletter seven days a week, but she does.

💡Kim’s Quiz:

Hairspray. Station wagons. Wall-to-wall carpeting. It’s the 1980s, and Toyota has a problem.

Their California design team, Calty, keeps sending plans to Japan for bigger cars that Americans would buy. Larger seats. More legroom. More everything. The Japanese execs keep pushing back. So in 1986, they tried something nobody had ever done before.

What did Toyota’s California designers ship to Japan to help executives understand American customers? A) A full-size American pickup with the interior stripped out, B) A complete mock American dining room, including a table, chandelier, curtains and family photos, C) A life-size cardboard cutout of an American football player sitting in a Japanese compact car or D) A side-by-side comparison of American and Japanese car seats.

*Answer below my closing message at the very bottom of this newsletter

Some Interesting Items I Found In Kim’s Daily Newsletter!

  • Defeated by manuals: You’ll never guess why GM recalled 5,482 vehicles across 40 models. Ready? The electronic owner’s manual never downloaded, thanks to a factory setup mistake. We gave cars giant screens and somehow lost the booklet. That means Cadillacs, Silverados, Hummers, even Corvettes shipped without the basic instructions for safe operation. No crashes reported, thankfully, but wow, what a 2026 smart car problem.

  • 3-second tech genius: Your key fob can cool your car before you even open the door. Press and hold the unlock button twice (hold that second press), and the windows drop automatically on most modern vehicles. Some models include the sunroof. Check the owner’s manual for your specific make. No more blast of hot air to the face. You’re welcome.

  • Hang up first: Ever get one of those calls that makes your stomach drop for half a second? That’s the scammers’ business model. Personalized attempts are up 65%, and fraud crews love using crumbs from your social accounts to sound terrifyingly real. Mom’s maiden name, your favorite restaurant, your dog, soon there’s a sobbing call about a crash or kidnapping. Urgency is the catch, it boggles the brain to act irrationally. A family safe word turns this whole con into a very embarrassing performance.

  • Those Post-it notes on your monitor have a digital version: It’s called Stickies, and it’s built into your Mac. Open it and press + Nfor a new note, and type whatever you need. Drag it anywhere on screen. They stay on top of every window, so they can’t disappear behind other apps. You have to physically move them out of the way. Change the color and font from the top menu, too. Windows folks, your version is Sticky Notes.

  • 3-second tech genius: Your phone torch is also a lost item detector. Turn the lights off. Flashlight flat on the floor. Look across the room. The light skims the surface, and anything sitting on top of the carpet casts a long shadow. Earring backs, screws, contact lenses, SIM card pins, even a clear stud. I found a diamond earring I’d been looking for THREE WEEKS. Works every single time.

  • Hollywood’s afterlife casting: Get this. Val Kilmer is set to appear in a movie despite passing away in April 2025. He was cast about five years ago but never filmed a scene because his health cratered after throat cancer treatments. So the production used generative AI to bring him in anyway, with approval from his daughter Mercedes and his estate. The movie’s title? As Deep as the Grave. The irony writes itself.

I won't recommend a product or service unless I have tried it myself and feel good about recommending it. It is the same with the car dealers on the radio show and website.

Jerry's Must-Watch Video of the Week!

The lesson to be learned here: Don't lie to a judge. An Attorney signs into a Zoom hearing and tries to tell the judge she is a passenger and is not driving her car when CLEARLY she is. The judge is way too smart for her. Watch her face when the judge says: "Show me the driver!" This 3-minute video will make you choose your Attorney very wisely!

  Todd's Video of the Week!

An allegedly stolen vehicle crashed into Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina, around 2 a.m. on July 22 after the driver fled from police before a traffic stop could be initiated. Surveillance footage shows the car skidding out of control, sparks flying as it slammed into the building, before two occupants ran from the wreckage. Police later apprehended the 18-year-old driver.

True Stories From A Former Car Dealer

true-stories-cannibis-graphic

This is #6 in a series of 40 stories written by me about occurrences from my days in the car business. Each story had a lasting impression on me for some reason or another. Some because they were funny, some because they were sad, and some were just strange. But whatever the case, over the next 34 weeks, we’ll feature one of them, in order for you to enjoy.

cannibus-1Today’s story is titled: Cannabis. A service customer stormed into my office one day mad as hell. He said something was stolen out of his car. He didn’t want me to know what it was initially, but I finally got it out of him. So, what did I do for him? Read this story for the ending!

  Closing Message From Jerry

Still Worth Fighting For

I’ve been doing this a long time. Long enough to see the car business at its very best—and, at times, not so much.

I’ve seen handshakes turn into lifelong friendships. I’ve watched families come back generation after generation, buying from the same dealership because somebody treated them right the first time. And I’ve also seen what happens when that trust gets broken—how fast it can undo years of goodwill.

That’s one of the reasons I’ve never wavered on what this show and this newsletter stand for. Straight talk. Honest answers. Taking care of people the right way, every single time.

Because at the end of the day, this business isn’t really about cars.

It’s about people. It’s about values. And in a lot of ways, it’s about something even bigger than that—it’s about who we are as Americans.

This year marks 250 years of this country. Think about that for a second. Two and a half centuries of freedom, resilience, hard work, and yes—plenty of mistakes along the way. We’ve never been perfect. Not even close.

But I’ll tell you this, after all these years and everything I’ve seen—I still believe this is the best damned country on earth.

And what makes it great isn’t just the history books or the headlines. It’s the people. It’s the small business owners who open their doors every morning. It’s the folks who believe a handshake still means something. It’s the men and women who choose to do the right thing when nobody’s watching.

That’s the America I know.

And that’s really what inspired my new song, Still Worth Fighting For. It’s not just a song—it’s a reminder. A reminder that even when things feel a little sideways, even when there’s noise and confusion and plenty to argue about, the core of what makes this country special is still there.

It hasn’t gone anywhere.

I’ve fought a lot of battles over the years—calling out bad practices, standing up for consumers, and yes, occasionally ruffling a few feathers along the way. But it’s always come from the same place: believing that honesty matters, integrity matters, and people deserve better.

Those aren’t just business principles.

Those are American principles.

And they’re still worth defending.

I hear from listeners all the time who feel frustrated, who feel like things have gotten more complicated than they should be. And I get it. I really do. But I also know this: there are still a lot of good people out there. A lot of dealers doing it the right way. A lot of folks who still believe in treating others the way they’d want their own family treated.

That hasn’t changed.

Sometimes it just gets drowned out.

That’s why I do what I do. That’s why I’ll keep speaking up, keep helping where I can, and keep pointing you toward the people who deserve your business, not one of those that are getting a letter from the FTC.

Because after all these years, I still believe in this business—and more importantly, I still believe in this country.

It’s not perfect.

Never has been.

But it’s still worth believing in.

Still worth protecting.

And yes… Still Worth Fighting For.

Straight Talk and Honest Answers — always.

 💡Kim Komando Answer:

B) A complete mock American dining room. Yep, Toyota’s California design team literally shipped a full-on American dining room to Japan in 1986: table, chairs, chandelier, curtains, parquet floors, family photos, the works. It wasn’t decor. It was a very expensive way of saying, “This is why the cupholders and legroom need to be bigger.”

Toyota used that one fake dining room to reshape everything about how it designed vehicles for the U.S. market. By 2008, Toyota had become the world’s largest automaker, surpassing General Motors for the first time. All those Camrys and Corollas in American driveways today trace back, in a small way, to a chandelier hanging inside a Japanese office building in 1986.
