Dear Car Pro Family,

Hard to believe that next weekend is Labor Day weekend already and four months from Monday is Christmas day!  Where does the time go?  We’ve got another jam-packed edition of our newsletter for you to enjoy today and, as always, if there is information someone else might be able to use, feel free to forward this, we encourage you to do so.  I get great joy out of educating people about cars and the car industry, and also what goes on in car dealerships.

Today, we kick it off with our annual in-depth study of tax code 179 for the self-employed and business owners.  Remember, the size of the business does not matter.  PLUS, a new way to save you money is in that same article, and it is for everyone, dealing with interest charges on new cars.  Getting this info for you this year was a bit more challenging because of the big beautiful bill that was passed last month.

In news, the Ford Motor Company is taking a big gamble sinking 5 billion dollars into electric vehicles.  J.D. Power released two studies I think you might be interested in, and in a first for me, an insurance company is suing Nissan, a Nissan dealership, AND their own customer regarding a fire that was started due to a recall that was not performed.

Kim Komando has some very useful information for you today, and don’t miss Kim’s Fun Quiz. The answer is at the very bottom of this newsletter, along with my closing message which addresses not believing everything on the Internet.  I have a new batch of Quick Shift stories for you today, and don’t forget to go shopping in the Car Pro Merch shop, lots of good stuff there.  Get caught up on the tariff news, too.

In car reviews, I have the ALL-NEW 2026 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy and apologies right now for gushing over it.  I also have another very popular 3-row, the 2025 Kia Sorento SUV. In our third review, Amy Plemons brings you a gorgeous drop-top, the super-exclusive 2025 Mazda M-5 Miata 35th Anniversary Edition.

If you haven’t perused my FAQ page, please do.  There are likely multiple articles you can use, every one of them written by me.

All of our other regular features are below including the Classic Car Contest, our radio station listings, how to connect with us on Facebook and call the show to talk directly to me, and much, much, more.

We very much appreciate you being part of the newsletter family.  Without you, there is no Car Pro Show.  Let us know how we can help you, and if you haven’t been to our website lately, check it out at CarPro.com. It changes daily.

Have a terrific week.  See you on the radio!

Kim Komando's Quiz and Other Info

new-kim-kommando-graphiBesides the Car Pro Show and our weekly newsletter, my other favorite radio show and newsletter is Kim Komando’s.  We're on many of the same radio stations across America.  She does for her listeners and newsletter subscribers exactly what I endeavor to do:  Give you useful information to keep you up to date on the latest in cars, only she does it with technology and there is nobody who does it better.  Not sure how she puts out a top-notch newsletter seven days a week, but she does.

Kim’s Quiz:

Back in 1983, something wild happened in the deserts of New Mexico. No flying saucers this time. One company decided the best solution to an overflow of 700,000 unsold products was a giant burial ground, leading to decades of urban legend.

🏜️ What was in the pit? A) Atari 2600 “E.T.” cartridges, B) Commodore 64s, C) Betamax tapes or D) Pong consoles? Find the answer popping up at the end like a zombie hand!

Here are some interesting and useful things in Kim’s newsletters from this week I found for you:

Literal fields of green: While everyone’s glued to Bitcoin tickers, U.S. farmland just hit a record $4,350 per acre, up 89% since 2011. Jeff Bezos is shooting for soybean stars with 462,000 acres, Bill Gates went from Microsoft to microgreens with 275,000 acres, and Warren Buffett once said he’d drop $25B for 1% of all farmland. Now this seems like a fine place for a bad joke. How do you get a farm girl to like you? A tractor. (lol)

Clear your Facebook search history: We’ve all done a bit of stalking. On your desktop, go to Settings & privacy > Activity log Logged information > Search Your search history. Select the three-dot icon next to any term to Delete it or remove them all at once by clicking Clear Searches in the top right.

Stop spam calls: On iPhone, go to Settings Phone Silence Unknown Callers to send numbers not in your contacts straight to voicemail. On Android, open the Phone app > Settings Block numbers and toggle Block calls from unknown numbers. Depending on your Android, they might still be able to leave you a voicemail.

Digitize your old VHS tapes: You don’t have to keep watching them on a VCR. Use a converter to transfer those memories onto your computer. No time? Got a lot of money? WalmartCostco or Walgreens can do it for you. Prices usually run $16 to $35 per tape.

17.75-The average turbulence score on America’s bumpiest flight. The eddy dissipation rate (EDR) is basically a nerdy way to measure how violently the air’s shaking you around. Albuquerque to Denver nails it, turning a short hop over the Rockies into a midair mechanical bull ride. Expect seat belt signs, coffee spills and a nervous chuckle from the flight attendant.

On a wing and a snack: This is the start of something huge! Auntie Anne’s, Jamba and Schlotzsky’s are going airborne. DoorDash and Alphabet-owned Wing are piloting drone delivery in three Texas cities (Frisco, Plano, & Ft. Worth), promising pretzels and smoothies in just under three minutes, if you live within 4 miles. And get this. Delivery costs only $3.99. The mall food court just learned to fly

My Must-See Video Of The Week!

How many times have I told you NOT to believe things on the Internet.  You’ve probably seen this 1-minute video showing a Mustang Mach-e electric supposedly with its autonomous driving feature on, scraping along a highway wall before wiping out a Mitsubishi. Internet headlines cried: “Driver seen praying in out-of-control EV.”  The truth?  The car was NOT in autonomous mode, and the driver was arrested on Suspicion of DWI by the California Highway Patrol. Remember, it’s all for the clicks!

  Closing Message From Jerry Reynolds

My video of the week is a reminder to you that the Internet is full of worthless information, and I hope you take that to heart.  It is beyond me why some folks believe everything they read on a screen, like that gives information instant credibility.

Not a day goes by that I don’t hear from a listener who is interested in a car but tells me they “heard” XXXX car has XXXX problem.  When they say they “heard” it, I know they actually mean that they read the information online.

Ask yourself when you read things online:  Is this information verifiable?  99% of the time, it is not.  You may not realize this, but some people make things up and post them online just to get attention.  Are they lonely or bored?  Maybe.  Who knows what the motivation is, but making important decisions about a purchase as large as a car based on unverifiable info is just not good business.

Here’s the truth:  Pick any car made in the past 20 years and I’ll find something bad online about it.  It could be the greatest car ever made, and somebody will knock it.  It doesn’t matter the make, model, or price, somebody had an issue they wrote about online.

Guess what?  The most popular cars have the most bad things written about them.  Are there legitimate issues talked about online?  SURE.  No question about it.  A widespread issue like the Tundra engine problem, or the 6.2-liter GM engines are real, and they are online and that is good.  However, those are being taken care of and that is all you ask. This is precisely why you have a warranty with every new car.  Be thankful things have changed, when I started in the car business, the warranty on a new car was 12 months/12,000 miles, period, and not everything was covered.

A final thought:  Happy people don’t post online, generally.  If a customer has an issue, they can’t WAIT to slam their car, or the automaker, or the dealership they bought from online.  The other side is, those who had a GREAT experience, no issues and no problems, don’t usually think to rant about how wonderful everything was.  So, when you look for car information, remember, you are only seeing ONE SIDE.  You get a horribly skewed view of the product and if you read something enough, you start to believe it.  The reality is that on a popular vehicle, for every negative comment, there could be 100,000 super happy people who are just quietly enjoying their vehicle.

Beware the keyboard warriors.

Kim Komando Answer:

A) Atari 2600 “E.T.” cartridges. Yes, the pixelated flop that critics called “unplayable” was such a disaster, Atari secretly buried hundreds of thousands in a New Mexico landfill. There’s a movie about this! If you’re looking for something to watch, it’s a good story.

🕹️ What did Atari say to Sega when he moved out of his house? “I gotta Pac Man!” (I even groaned at that one!)
